Here's something a little different. Not A1s or A3s but more akin to A2205 (Bermondsey Street) and the block on the corner with Crucifix Lane (the A2207). It's a N/2mm model consisting of an office building and vinegar brewery located along the front of the viaduct (not yet built) on the layout. I had always planned to include a very rough and freelance representation of the Sarson's malt vinegar brewery on my layout and the plot next to the office building was available. . . . I know it's not in the right place but at this end of the layout there is a lot less adherence to the actual geographic area. And, of course, it's all far from finished.

Hopefully I'm on the downhill stretch to getting this block (which includes several buildings/structures) completed, although what remains seems like a large amount of wall to model. I've started on the smallest section, the angled entrance to the office/warehouse building. It will probably have most detail as I've got to make and add recessed front doors and steps up to them. Here's progress this morning - still much to do and it's not glued in place and only test positioned. I'll fix it in place when finished including painting and fitting windows. And then start on the next wall sections.

Next the chimney tops and pots were made for the two stacks. There will be a third but that will be linked to the front wall which is not yet made. They are simply rectangles of plasticard glued together with cast white metal pots on top; They were given a waft of primer from an aerosol; Then painted, sealed with matt varnish and glued in place;

Yesterday I managed to make and add a few missing bits and details such as; ridge tiles on the tower, the office block roof access, the yard right hand brick wall, coping on the yard left wall, flue pipe on lean-to, ridge tiles and vent on brewery, finished and added the tower right side wall with hoist doors (although hoist still to be added). However, I've still yet to complete the office and brewery curved front wall, the office angled entrance wall, chimney stack tops and pots, office coping stones and yard gates. But otherwise nearly complete (if anything you model can ever be considered finished).

The top of the chimney is the same height as the top of the vent slats (but unfortunately not taller) although it doesn't look it in the pics. However, the excuse is that at the time the layout is set burning coal wouldn't have been allowed in London (1956 clean air act) and the story is that the chimney is decommissioned with the top section removed for safety. ;-)

Some more activity on the brewery (although the office block needs me to get started on it) ; ventilated roof space detailed, roof water tank made (although I'm not happy with it and will probably make another), pitched roof tiles (with Redutex although ridge tiles need to be made and added), some wall details painted (although I'm out of matt varnish so need to get some more when the shops open) . . . . . .

I roughed up a character sketch of the ventilated roof and water tank: And I've made a start on knocking it up. Plus I've been able to get the walls primed and a base colour on them meaning things are taking shape although most bits aren't glued in place (the walls obviously need the windows and door fitted first) so it looks a little rough and ready.

The other tower wall now has apertures cut and both have details added this morning. As it's too wet to get some paint on them I've cut the brewery frontage, which faces away from the front of the layout. And I'll plan the ventilated roof area and water tank on top of the tower. I'll probably make that from plasticard.

I'm currently working on the Crucifix Lane block (indoors) which includes an office building and a representation of the nearby vinegar brewery. See my thread 'Scratch-built card and styrene structures (based on real buildings around London Bridge)' for details of the structures build and progress. The pics below show where it fits on the front of the layout;

My Aussie guests have now left so some form of normality can return to the house. And I've started back on the Crucifix Lane block of an office building and a vinegar brewery. I've made a start on the carcasses, attaching them directly to the block footprint card floor. The building fascias will be cut from brick embossed plasticard: I've also knocked up a mix of parts from a donor building (the ramshackle workshop as mentioned) and some temporary structures to check my brewery design and how it will all go together. The front edge of the block is the brewery yard allowing the building to be set back a little from the edge of the layout. There will be entry gates on the left. The front of the office building and brewery will be facing way from the edge. See my layout thread 'London Bridge (at the end of the 20thC)'.

Very little done - I was out all day yesterday on a family Xmas meal, been to the dentist today and I've Aussie relatives visiting for a few days on Saturday - so probably won't get much done until later next week. Nonetheless I've cut a mountboard base for the block and drawn up the building and brewery locations on it. I'm planning on using some of the ramshackle workshop factory (I made - see previously in this thread) as part of the brewery with it appropriately breweryfied. I've started by cutting down and changing the boiler house a bit. You can see where I need to touch up paintwork in the pic below, where it's been cut and modified. The flat roof extension is much smaller and the roof tank had to be moved.
