  1. Well said Stephen, but you surely forgot to mention that the Midland Railway abolished second class travel in 1875.And gave third class travellers decent coaches to ride in,leaving other companies no choice but to follow suit.
  2. Try tenmille, they are primarily gauge one manufacterers but they also offer track parts for narrow gauge O ,which would be perfect for 7mm coarse scale trackwork.
  3. Hi Paul, the book only refers to his model railway in passing."Or the model railway that ran around his bungalow and through specially cut holes into the garden."So i guess he must have had two layouts.I wonder if any photo`s exist of his models? They must have been something special!
  4. Hello everyone, picked up a copy of this book from my local branch of "The Works"and its a really good read for anyone into old cars.I could`nt put it down! And did you know Sir Alec Issigonis waas a model railway enthusiast!Highly recommended.(better add a disclaimer too!)
  5. I was wondering if you had considered using Bembridge as inspiration for your terminus. Its layout is made for tight spaces and its as Southern Railway as it gets!Although making the turntable/sector plate might be tricky and I guess it wouldn't be easy to arrange through running but short trains and Terrier tanks would look fantastic running on it.It would be economical on pointwork too!
  6. Thanks Kevin, i`ll certainly check the 4-4-0 when it arrives,i`ve looked the 4-4-4tank over and she`s fine.Thank you again for the advice its just what I needed to know and is most helpful. best wishes Martin,
  7. Hi Kevin and many thanks for your reply and advice, much appreciated. At the moment I have in my possession a beautiful little 4-4-4T E/1.And I hope to take delivery of an E/3 Celebration class 4-4-0 some time soon.
  8. Can anyone recommend a suitable controller for ACE trains locomotives? They draw less than an amp I believe when running but are rated at 24volts.Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
