  1. Hey folks, While digging through the seemingly endless photos I stumbled upon this picture: https://flic.kr/p/bBRy67 Photo caption says its a former open ferry wagon. My questions are this: 1. Does anyone know of any transfers made to replicate this in OO? 2. Where there any other types of wagons used in stores service? 3. Does anyone have pictures of equipment with the "Rail stores" livery? A further search on google and flickr didnt reveal much. Thanks in advance! Alex
  2. Thanks lads, after reading the comments I will just try and flog it. With 422 on its way I'll just have to wait a bit before I have a RR livery. Endless knowledge here!
  3. Hey folks, Prior to joining the forums I went on a class 37 buying spree thinking all was right in the world. I believed that until I unboxed my Bachmann made 37429 and put it next to my 37401. Wow what a difference and quite disappointed. I now have a 37422 in RR on the way. Now my question is: Is there anything I can do to revive 37429 and bring it up to par with the new run Bachmanns or is it destined to be left in its box and hope I can sell it? Thanks in advance! Alex
  4. I swear, you guys have better luck with Google and Flickr than I do. I ran several searches using "mk 1 bg generator" and all I got was a handful of pictures of how they look today and that one picture of 6310. That said, my intial questions have been answered. But more remain. That video is awesome and gives me several more ideas for modelling and even for my layout. The Motorail GUVs are something new to me. I've seen them mentioned before and even seen models of them but I know little about them. I will attempt a search now lol. I always liked how forums bring together people from all over, all ages. I'm from Canada and have no access to the real British Rail and I was 8-10 yeats old at this point in history. Its fascinating to me to learn and I do appricate everyones contributions.
  5. The only pictures I have found are the ones mentioned from the other forum post. What did you use for search? As for 6310, if it was exclusively for the HST then no need for me to model it. I'm mostly interested in 6311-6313. I'm not trying to be annoying with my questions but being new to modelling British Rail, I'm trying to be as thorough as I can. I still don't have a knack for the coach types etc, prefer to ask. I do appricate all the provided info. Thanks!
  6. I'm going to assume that 6310 was the one painted in B&G and the others were painted in Intercity? The question arrose when I saw a picture of 37283 and 37285 on the sleeper to Inverness. Where the four of them similar in there conversion? Thanks!
  7. Hey folks, Yet another thread from me. I was speaking with one of the senior members here in private and it came up in the million of questions I was asking him that BR converted a bunch of Mk 1 BGs into generator cars for the use on HST trains as barrier cars and ETH equipped Inverness sleeper trains and no 37/4s where kicking around. Where these renumbered from the standard BG numbering? How many were done? Does anyone have pictures, diagrams, etc. I would like to make a pair of these in BR B&G and a pair in BR Intercity for use with my non ETH equpped class 37s. I tried a search, but keep gettings ones either in todays settings or very limited and not very clear photos There is one photo I discovered here on Rmweb, via another thread but I'm in need of more. Thanks in advance, Alex
  8. Does Bachmann or Hornby make a model of these?
  9. Fantastic. Thank you Gordon, I did that and 37 heaven filled my screen. I'm going to be busy....lol
  10. Answer in the previous post on the fish van topic. Thanks!
  11. More wonderful photos. May I ask what you guys typed to get those in search on flickr? I've tried a couple searches but been moderate in success. After seeing the 37/4s in Intercity and Regional livery plus sectotization as well, I am going to have a hard time staying in 1986. What year did they get painted in Intercity? Regional paint was early ninetys I was informed on another thread. I saw the big circle T as well so thats gotta be 94 to 97 I'm guessing for that scheme. Which type of fish vans would those be? Hope its the type I have gives me a reason to keep them.
  12. Yes its not part of thr orginal post. But I'm still very much interested in pictures of trains in the West Highlands. I wasnt sure how the paper was transported on flat cars.
  13. That picture is exactly what I've looking for. A 37/4 hauling mixed goods. I cant wait for my books to show up! Thank you for linking that!
  14. Now I have to search that. I'm curious how that works. Wonderful info lads, thank you!
  15. You need more pictures here mate Just saying...
  16. I appricate all the insight Lads. Fish vans in the Scotland Highland region well gone by 1986 I'm guess as well? The one Highland book Ive read said late 70s but that was from Mallaig. What about the other lines? Same period?
  17. I suppose these lasted until the EWS era in this livery?
  18. I'm not sure what type they were Russ. They are on my list to ask about but they are down a ways. I have only seen video of them in the 90s, and unsure if they were around then. Probably were.
  19. Thsts very interesting. I'm wondering if the ingot flats they used on the WHL were similarly equpped. I'll have to start digging for info on them. Thanks!
  20. I'm planning on modelling the West Highlands in the summer 1986 with a bit of a time machine that allows Regional liveried 37429 to transport back in time from 1993. Im current assembling a fleet of class 37s, and Mk1 and Mk2 coaches aswell Mk3 sleepers. From what I have been taught thus far, the West Highland day services were some of the last vacuum brake services in 1986. They lasted til January 1989 before DMUs took over fully. Lots of mention of both systems either way. Since the 37/4s were most common, I'm assuming the coach stock assigned to the WHL were mainly ETS equipped. I plan on taking off all the NEM couplings and using a mix of kadee and Smith's hook couplings. Thanks Rex for the paint and transfer names. I'll search them out.
  21. Perfect, very thorough answer. Thank you very much! cheers Alex
  22. Hey lads, I have several Mk 1 coaches that are in the cream and maroon livery. Which airbrush paint would be appropriate to paint them in the blue and grey? Anyone make coach decals? Are there any details I need to add or remove to bring these cars into 1986? Thanks in advance, Alex
  23. Hey folks, Would it still be feasible to say that some steam era stock (12t and 16t) Vans and Mineral Wagons would be still used in 1986 or with the decline of goods traffic, they would have been made into razor blades? Cheers, Alex
  24. Ok, my next question is. Does anyone make detail kits for the coaches and sleepers? I'd like to get them as close as I can. Thanks!
