  1. on a side note.....I WANT ONE OF THESE!!!!!!!!
  2. It’s a fun switching Layout still under construction. There was a full house last night six operators in a 15 x 15 space. Still a good time as always! I wasn’t able to get to many pics because of all the people.
  3. Thursday is train day! Going to my friend Mike‘s 15 x 15‘ CSX switching layout based on the industrial park in Mansfield Massachusetts. I’ll post pics as always!
  4. Great question! I write up a switch list for the incoming cars, which includes the grades in each car, and what cars are to be removed. The real trick is remembering where the existing cars were spotted if some are not finished unloading, and are to be placed back in their original spots. A few times I drew a little diagram saying what/where those cars are spotted.
  5. I toned it down just enough I think. I left the rust a little heavy in front of the large industry, mainly because that’s where the engine is constant going back-and-forth/ shuffling the complex HFCS tank car movements. That industry alone can take up to 45 minutes to do a full switch, with four different grades of HFCS having to be spotted in a certain spot. And some of them are not ready to be taken back yet, Complicating the switching even more. Seven spots total for the one industry.
  6. Thank you for the kind words! Here’s a picture of the line as it sits today, (well, a week ago today) and un-used for about the past five years.
  7. OK, I was able to tone it down little bit, water, a little bit of soap and a toothbrush! I’ll Post a pic when I get home from school.
  8. Thank you gentlemen! I appreciate the honesty. I’m going to try a little touching up of the over spill areas. Hopefully I can correct the problem areas.
  9. I attempted weathering the rail today some powders. Not sure How I feel about the way it looks. Feel free to comment good or bad!! Just a reminder, this is an end of line area.
  10. Oh OK I didn’t know what you meant! Enjoy Jimmy G, nickname Aladdin for his looks. That kid is going to do great things. Back to school today for me. I had a great winter break, I got a lot of work done on my layout. My goal was to have a layout up and running by the time school started, I’m really happy of what I have so far and I exceeded my own expectations and goals. I’ll still be able to do work on it during the semester, just not as much.
  11. PR-2 working as a Sunday extra this morning on “the Slate” with a few loads for Tate & Lyle’s new satellite HFCS distribution facility, and a box car for N&D Transportation at the team track. The crew was in a hurry this morning, trying to get home in time for the Patriots game. (Don’t mind the random cars in the second picture, those are suppose to be HFCS tank cars!)
  12. This will do for now, until I get better with the program! I decided to call the industry, Southbridge Sheet Metal, for my dad who retired from the company after 40 years of work.
  13. I'll most certainly look into it! Thank you!
  14. My one structure is sticking out like a sore thumb. I took a field trip to the spot last week and snapped some pictures of the building, to copy Lance mindheim's lead, and have "Photo" buildings. I also took back ground photos for my back drop. I did it with a DSLR camera. I downloaded a free trial of Photo shop but....it's proving to be most difficult for me! Some of my friends have just "trial and errored" with printing sizes for their back ground structures, and they look pretty good. I might do the same.
  15. There’s nothing like the aroma in the kitchen of drying out shredded leaves for scenery! Hopefully the aroma goes away before my wife gets home from work!
  16. Ops night last night! My friend Don’s P & W layout. I was operating in interchange train WOFP. Leave Worcester yard, interchange at Fairview Yard, and do a little local switching along the mainline in Branford Connecticut, on my way to fresh Pond yard in New York.
  17. I'll give it a shot!! Thank you! Ok Thanks!! That looks great!! Thank you!
  18. It almost looks as if the plywood color I started with is the right base color to start with.
  19. Thank you Apollo, I will give that a shot. Do you recommend I almost do a dry brushing with the black?
  20. So it’s time I ask you gentlemen for help! What colors could I use to gain the desired effect I’m looking for on this team track loading dock? The second picture is my first attempt, and it’s not too pretty!
  21. Good stuff!! Email recieved from N&D Transportation, "Thank you for your quick service and attention to our company's needs. We are currently re-assessing our shipping options to include more rail service deliveries and shipments."
  22. How about a live interchange?! I have a boxcar load coming from the P & W. (N & D Transportation) routed to Mass Container. The customer requires a photo of the delivered box car on this thread!
