Dug out my handset to test a new dcc loco and couldnt get the handset to come on.   My fault as ive not used it for years and made the mistake of leaving the batteries in it so it was all corroded and furred up inside so Ive binned it.

The new loco has 31 functions so im now looking for a decent mid budget controller that can handle it and change CVs etc.

    What do people recommend.

I will miss the Dynamis as the operation seemed easy.

    Have Bachmann stopped selling Dynamis?

What happened after that is best not recounted as  I got my other, top secret, stand-by plan into effect and we had two engines from Plymouth for the return working next day .  That plan meant a slightly warmed backside for me from one senior WR manager and hearty thanks from two others.  But it did mean that we gave the punters passengers part of what they'd paid for and that was what counted in my book.

We followed this down by car becoming more and more worried watching events unfold as we had booked for the return.

Stayed overnight at Plymouth and the following day had the most memorable return run with Hinton Manor and Hagley Hall. Thanks for all the efforts.

Just fitted the decoder to the efe rail 144, so happy until I tried to run it. It wheel spins and gets stuck on straight track!

I added some weight to the powercar which seems to help but not to cure the problem.

Saw a couple of videos on YouTube and it looked like there was some resistance/they get stuck. Not good really for a £200 plus model.

Picked up from another forum that slightly loosening the 2 screws either side of the wheels on the cab ends improves free running particularly over points and curves.

I have tried that and there is a definite improvement but still get slight hesitancy at times. The screws are extremely tight.

Im happy with mine and it runs fine....but...i can't get the interior lights to come on. Cab and directional lights both working. Im hitting the function keys like Liberace but nothings happening. Am i doing something wrong or does it need to go back to the shop?

    Thanks.

I have 2 and both are the same.

I've fitted 18 pin decoders and F0 needs to be on together with F1 for no 1 end lights and cab lights and F2 for no 2 end. Not found any combination that puts the interior lights on. I have only used a 4 function decoder however.

have you seen what the weather is like in these parts!  Merthyr saw LNW G2a tender locos working in from Abergavenny over the Heads of the Valleys line, which had to be turned, and the GW shed was the one used post-grouping.

I'm not sure the G2as could be turned at Merthyr. This classic image of an Abergavenny train about to depart from Merthyr Tydfil shows the tender back cab fitted to many of Abergavenny's allocation due to the need to travel tender first.

What I'm wondering is have changes been made to the model or are they coming DCC fitted. For those wanting to fit sound,  the original ones were VERY tricky to fit once you start lifting the body off... so I was wondering if they were the same but expect them to be so.

I've edited your post as I found them one of THE trickiest units to fit a decoder on.

Never could get them to run as well after having had to remove the wheels and springs to fit the decoder.

Hope they are not the same and the next 18 interface may offer hope of an easier fit.

Hi, As I understand the decoders are expected imminently, then we will start fitting, so should be in the shops towards the end of next month.

    Thanks, Regards, Richard

Still no sign of the sound fitted versions?

Lets hope we will have our prayers come true for what we called "trad Western Region namers" .Be it in either BR livery .

    My feeling we will.

Grimy Times has a couple of Blue FYE weathered and re-numbered "Atlas & Samson"

Bachmann must be laying in wait for my cash. Cardiff Canton & Cwmbran .

My thoughts as well but as I generally run sound on dcc these days that's £700.

I had another look at my Vi 37 422. Not that bad and running well (£49.99 in 2007). Maybe I'll just go for Cwmbran??

Maybe NEM should be attached to bogie like Bachmann.  Just my opinion but Acc. could have another look at this,  I also recall someone here said Kadees won't work with kinematics, but not sure which thread.

I think Bachmann have got this right. I have no end of problems with Hornby Class 60s and Hattons Class 66s.

My D9020 Nimbus arrived yesterday and after an hour or so running around light engine with no problems even through standard radius 2 point work, I coupled up to a rake of 8 Hornby Pullmans.

Immediately derailment after derailment occurred and it was the loco that was being derailed by the 1st coach.

One of the chains detached from the body as a result (Now re-fixed with a blob of glue).

I have managed to improve things a bit by fitting a smaller (with smaller hook) Bachmann tension lock but have to be careful especially on negotiating reverse curves even though radius 4.

The kinematic couplings are possibly too lively or too lightly sprung.

I think these are the first ones with passengers

The Arriva Trains Wales version with the revised livery and sound had them.  (32-939DS).

I think they look ok. The odd thing however is that whereas Bachmann normally fit a driver to their diesel locomotives, they don't with units. So a nice sprinkling of passengers with no driver or conductor.
