  2. Thanks Guys, loving your Dettinger layout Richard. Some progress below on the signal box Wayne IMG_20191227_220542 by Wayne, on Flickr IMG_20191227_220549 by Wayne, on Flickr IMG_20191227_220950 by Wayne, on Flickr

  4. Thanks The Johnster, No I dont believe they used slips though i need to check this, I inserted them to make the layout more useable. The curved bit does not lead to a fiddle yard, I will not have one hence the access to the carriage shed. The curved bit is a sort of head shunt. Sadly no Garratts are likely to be used on this layout, just Diesel for now, this is my progress on my DE3 loco IMG_20191129_215519 by Wayne, on Flickr
  5. Hi All, I am after some guidance on my proposed "based on" Rhodesia Railways shunting layout please My current idea is for a 12ft by 2ft layout with one long side of the entire length being a platform - two lines run parallel to this and some points off to a carriage shed, loco shed and a siding or two - The idea is to have various shunting movements to put wagons into the Shed siding, and move carriages from the Carriage shed to the platform tot build up a consist of 5-8 depending on whether a local or international train is being built up. Once built up, the idea is to take it apart again, send the loco back to the shed, swap it out with another and build a different train. These are my two current proposed layouts, any thoughts form those with shunting knowledge please. The second one makes use of double slips. The carriage shed (top right) is open to the rear to allow "loading" of more carriages to build up an eight car consist Thanks Wayne Screenshot 2019-12-01 13.35.17 by Wayne, on Flickr Screenshot 2019-11-22 09.54.55 by Wayne, on Flickr
  6. Grills added and tool boxes built - also started on the cab roof IMG_20191129_215519 by Wayne, on Flickr
  7. A mix of all Jim, grey parts are 3D printed, white is styrene and under the styrene chassis is a cut up commercial Class 40 (I think, I only purchased the chassis) Wayne
  8. Progress is slow on my DE3 loco IMG-20191123-WA0000 by Wayne, on Flickr
  9. Some photos of a small trial diorama I have been playing with IMG_20191107_161353 by Wayne, on Flickr IMG_20191107_161250 by Wayne, on Flickr
  10. Thanks, I would love a Garratt too, I tried making one in N Gauge when I was dabbling in that scale, but never completed it. For now a few diesels, DE1, DE2, DE3 and DE4, will do. Wayne
  11. Hi All, I am working on plans for an S Scale Rhodesia Railways based layout, running on HO track and bogies to simulate the narrower gauge used by R.R. I have drawn up some basic carriage sides and roofs and some parts for a DE3 loco. I will get some pictures up. My current idea is for a 12ft by 2ft layout with one side of the entire length being a platform - two lines run parallel to this and some points off to a carriage shed, loco shed and a siding or two - The idea is to have a loco come out the loco shed, refuel and sand, go to the caboose siding and haul it off to the far right end of the platform, then build up a consist of carriages (probably 5-8 depending on whether a local or international train is being built up) taken from the carriage shed (which will have a cassette storing 4 or 6 carriages) - Once built up, the idea is to take it apart again, send the loco back to the shed, swap it out with another and build a different train. The shed could also be used to store wagons to build up a goods train for variation. I will scan the two designs I have done so far for comments. Wayne West Wales Plans, bottom one looks too busy - I like the angles on the upper and middle ones Scan_20191106 by Wayne, on Flickr Scan_20191105 (5) by Wayne, on Flickr IMG_20191101_114429 by Wayne, on Flickr IMG_20191101_114433 by Wayne, on Flickr IMG_20191101_114950 by Wayne, on Flickr IMG-20180328-WA0003 by Wayne, on Flickr
  12. Hi All, I am after a few cheap Lima SNCF coaches please, either 309344 or 309240. Apart from the chassis area and bogies these don't need to be in good condition, in fact I will be cutting off the main body as I am using the chassis for my S Scale (running on HO/OO track) Rhodesia Railways builds. Many thanks Wayne West Wales
  13. Hi All, does anyone perhaps have a copy of Railroad Model Craftsman June 2014 that they might be willing to sell on please. I understand that edition had an S Scale section. Many thanks Wayne
