  1. Hornby Peckett W4- formally Huntley & Palmers. Work done: Decaled with railtech NCB transfers after removal of prior branding & DCC fitting. Work to be done: Weathering, detail fitting and crew fitting
  2. Hello all! This is my workbench blog, I'm hoping that it will be a record for myself of my work, rather than it being scattered across about 12 pages. The stock will mainly be for my fictional light railway and colliery system 'Heapton' as well as some stock to serve the colliery from a branch line that originates at the mainline in Stoke-on-Trent. Maybe some other projects too! So I'll start with a little fact file on some my stock with what it is and what I want to do it. Thanks Olly *Oh and before I start, please if you see something you think looks wrong or bad, tell me!*
  3. Danke! I think a matt vanish and maybe a final going over with some kind of grey wash. Thanks Olly
  4. Hello all, Here's what I've done to mine! Featuring a little bit of fictional history. Hope its a decent watch if you fancy! Thanks Olly
  5. Lurking makes it sound odder than it is... But yeah I can't wait to have both production facilities (our houses) up and running. Really hope these offer some different bits for industrial modelers!
  6. Love the work that people are doing! Lots of impressive modelling!
  7. Alot of people are framing.. Maybe I should join in too.... But I like the idea! Love the high walls!
  8. Hi Mike If you want to start your own thread go for it! Although you can update on here anytime! It is isn't it? I've found its made me more space aware Oliver
  9. Ooo powered! Looking forward to seeing to develop! Good luck
  10. Thanks Me too! Hopefully should be updating tomorrow!
  11. Please don't hate me Swindonites. A Dapol 14xx will be converted to an NCB shunter for use on my NCB layouts. In short I model a colliery and love the 14xx/48xx: the shape, the strange for the UK wheel arrangement and how they look weather and work beaten. This paired with the fact I fancy a detailing project led to this purchase. A Dapol model that appears to have had a brush or two with orange paint or something and is missing the safety valve. However it does run relativity well! So the plan: -Detail with new handrails and smokebox door dart -Replace the safety valve (any ideas where from?) -Renumber it with etched numberplates -Repaint (maroon with yellow bufferbeams and rods) -DCC chipping -Cutting the chassis about so daylight is visible beneath the boiler -Replacing the traction tired wheels with none traction tired (I would prefer smooth running over high pulling power) -Probably some other bits I haven't thought of yet *I also know representing a none auto gear fitted loco would be more prototypical, but I like the idea of a 14xx being sold off to industry. Maybe being used on a light railways auto coach workings before being sold to the colliery? A fictional history will come eventually explaining how the loco arrived at the colliery. So I guess that's something to look forward too? Would love some input! Thanks Olly
  12. The layout is really looking good! The details really bring it to life and make it atmospheric. Also considering how much you disliked that loco its good to see you caring for it! A B2 would be a great little shed mate.
  13. Very little work done to this project as I've been scrubbing in on a competition ('A4 Diorama Competition 2020' here on RMWeb if you are interested) and other work has taken place too. However I have glued the giesl ejector in place, I don't think it looks to bad! Oh and I have started the fictional history, but its only a start so any ideas for that would be greatly appreciated. Through this it will gain its name 'Heapton No.3'- nameplates that have been ordered as well as Peckett style works plates.
  14. Ideally in a rectangle! Just so everyone has a somewhat similar base! But it can be smaller than A4 if that would suit?
  15. I may as well show what it looks like now with a little paint! Don't think the road looks too bad, other colours will be used to tone the road whilst the embankments will be grassed and bushed. The road is done with a Citidel textured paint I bought 6 or so months ago and I will use it again! Thoughts?
  16. Here's a little more work on mine! Shown here is the my Ruston just easing towards the level crossing. Not sure of the technical term for the parts inside the rails (keeper rails come to mind?) but they are used due to the crossing and the tighter than normal radius of track in that area to keep all vehicles on the track safely. Also seen here is the beginning of the scenery. Hopefully the height will make the diorama look less flat; an issue I have with my layouts- so I'm experimenting. Also experimenting with building up the road to go up and over the tracks. Just with some card!
  17. Thank you! I hope we do too! Looking impressive and I like the idea of rail and road traffic would get some impressive shots! With regards to whether it can entered with a frame- as long as the actual diorama (i.e. the scenery) is within A4 it will be fine! A frame could be fitted to the outside and it will be fine, would be a lovely touch. Entering is simple: once finished take dome photos and bounce an email to 'thetraincrashpodcast@gmail.com' or drop a message to the Instagram 'traincrashpod', ideally with a little write up about what it represents. Cheers Oliver
  18. Go for it! Budget won't be policed too much. It is just to stop people buying loads of ready to plant stuff! Its looking good by the way!
