Good afternoon  from a damp Charente. We nowchave a bit of sun but have had plenty of Welsh sunshine.  I've been to Niort to collect dome X ray results for Beth.  I also did the shoping there.  I was delayed en route by what I think must have been a nuclear convoy. 2 large plain white boxes on heavy duty lowloaders, lots ofvGendarmes in vans and on motorbikes and a Fire Engine (Les pompiers) bringing up the rear. The convoy was given priority atvall junctions by the Motorbikes.  It headed off towards La Rochelle so where it was going I know not.

Got yhe the hospital and then had to take a numbered ticket and wait.  Fortunately  I had planned for that and perused a book about French Railways in that vicinity.  Then hime to have lunch. After coffee I will be heading out to do battle with the final bush root.

As to appraisals, I 9nce had to do one for a Sgt   who was on an accelerated promotion scheme.  I had to matk hervoutbof 7 on 12 performance criteria.  In short, good at management,  carp at doing her then job outside. At the end of thevprocess I totalled thr scores and averaged them, which produced an overall 4.  Cue the young lady getting stroppy saying that she'd never had less than a 6.  Fortunately  I'd evidenced my scores. Shecwentboff to try and find another department  that would have her.  No joy. I suggested that she spent the next 9 monyhs at South Kirkby where she would be the boss but 15 minutes from any help.  To be fair to her after 3 months dhe thanked me for the advice and did well.  She even learned howcto 'get a grip' of a scene.

That sounds like a complicated urological surgical procedure to me

New ureters, new bladder, new urethral sphincter, new urethra - sounds expensive and painful (I hope you didn't get a cowboy outfit in to do it...)

I have had a kidney infection as well that is just clearing up after 2 courses of antibiotics

  3. I think you can only deter the opportunist tea leaf with cctv etc the more professional blagger will know all the tricks to evade cctv.

A mate of mine had his car broken into in a restaurant car park. The thieves escaped cctv id by using rear fog lights to dazzle the cctv hiding the registration plate. This was a number of years ago

Wonder if I can get him to learn Templot.

He has gone on to a Windows laptop after using Chromebooks for the lastcouple of years

Can i add Verdone weedkiller to the list.

Oh and I don't think Brasso is as good as it used to be. Maybe it was because it was Brasso wedding o bought.

Upvc cleaner doesn't seem to be as potent these days. I got some from a customer of ours in around 2003 it was brilliant shifted ingrained dirt. Some had leaked down the side of the bottle and it ate through it like putting poly cement on expanded polystyrene.

Istr that at the end of WW2 Lend/Lease equipment was supposed to be returned to the USA but it wasn’t really want ‘back home’ so was just dumped.

Wasnt there a story, recently debunked, that steam locos were buried in part of Doncaster Plant?

The Carrier he was on was Lend Lease that was returned in 1946 he stayed with her until handing her back at Norfolk Virginia.

@polybear I have seen that footage istr it was South Vietnamese aircraft that went into the drink first especially because their pilots were flying out their families to the US fleet

  7. On one of my Grandads final voyages on the Aircraft carrier it was used as an aircraft taxi. He told me that they ended up pushing crated up aircraft over the side as they were no longer required.

This was in the far East somewhere iirc
