  1. In the world of organising Gala events, we've learnt that nothing quite goes to plan! We had hoped to be announcing that No1 Lord Roberts would be visiting us for our Legends of Industry Gala but sadly, even with the sterling effort from our friends at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway, a fault with the loco can't be fixed in time for the visit to go ahead. This year we’ve spoken to lots of other railways and loco owners to see if they could help us out but sadly they’ve all been fully committed. We are naturally disappointed about this news but are still excited to enjoy 6 steam locos, including visitors 813 and No.18 "Lewin" gracing Tanfield metals during this Friday, Saturday and Sunday! We hope you can join us!
  2. A second gala visitor has just been announced... (with more news soon)
  3. Hi sorry for the delayed reply. we won’t be charging a site entry fee this year due to ongoing work on Marley hill shed roof. This means there will be Reduced displays in the carriage shed, as we need to maintain undercover accommodation for locos. However there will be a number of items of rolling stock and locos from the collection on display that cannot usually be seen by the public, instead.
  4. Hi all As a volunteer at the railway I have been asked to pass forward this information about the up coming Gala weekend at TR on the 14th, 15th &16th of June 2019... The first visitor for the 2019 Legends of Industry gala at the Tanfield Railway has just been announced ... Great Western Raway No. 813 will be returning to the North East as Backworth Colliery No. 12 in the condition it first arrived in Northumberland during 1934. Expect further announcements on visiting locos in the next few days. More information here: https://www.tanfield-railway.co.uk/index.php?page=legends-of-industry-gala-2019
