Am I right in saying that the through platforms are offset and that at some stage a new station was built?
That map is from about 1850.
Major rebuild around 1903 and many later changes.
Suggest searching nls for a large scale map of the era you wish to model.

One other thing I don't like there is a departure from the up bay runs wrong road into the fiddle yard, but otherwise that looks a good plan
That plan is not entirely faithfull to reality. There was (and stiil is) a trailing crossover to allow departures from platform 6 to the Up Main. There never was AFAIK a facing crossover Down Main/Up main just east of the platforms. Fisherton Yard never had a direct connection to/from the running lines - it was connected to the stub end of the GWR Down line which was a kickback from platform 1; just as the present day Traction Depot is connected. Several other changes possible depending on your space/desires.

31 finale railtour in Dec 2016, which was to use 442’s as stock, until NR decided MK3’s didnt fit Kings Cross, despite HSTs being ok, and 313s/Electrostars/700’s with shoes didnt pose any impediment either, but and so that was it.
IIRC When 442s were diesel hauled on engineering works diversions, it was quickly discovered there was no interlock to the doors.

Bachman have done it since quite a while before then.
There was previous legislation which I believe was superceded by the 2011 act. IIRC legislation was introduced soon after WW2.
As well as various safeguards to protect young fingers etc it also limited the maximum voltage for powered toys to 24v. Previously , I think, there had been 110v locos!

Most Bachman models are marked as for 14 years +. To an extent this might just be covering themselves from liability, but for a "protective" parent this probably stops them letting their child have one of these models
All the best

It is a legal requirement. Toys intended for under 14s must meet the Toy Safety Regulations 2011

Would that practice be acceptable in the UK, where by an air brake control was on the footplate, but the air pressure came from the tail loco, rather than an air pump on the steam loco, thus using air-braked stock, with a vac loco with a through air pipe?
There certainly has been some steam on the mainline with through air pipes (i think 61994 was one), but wasnt sure if that was only for rescue purposes.
in the same veign, could the tail loco be the power source for cdl and thus use similar solutions of other operators ?
It means a tail loco is on every train, but not every steam loco needing a full air brake & pump system installed ?Would it need to be a loco? A generator van could fulfil the same purpose.

Just made a post to The Forum Jokes Thread and after posting, a "Human Verification" screen was thrown up. I completed the task, and got the message
Naturally,
- It didn't redirect
- As of now, my post has vanished into thin air.
Now I'm not worried about losing the cracker joke, but whats all this about "Human Verification"?
Perhaps robots have worked out how to get around the "I am not a robot".

Hattons at least took the sensible "Fit it yourself" decision and stopped fitting lighting and sold the lighting unit separately.
At a stroke that decision reduced the sheer number of different products retailers were being rexpected to carry on their shelves, whilst still catering to the same total very large range.
Do any other retailers sell these carriages?

Apologies if its in the report, but did he stumble against the handle? Or just decide that he wanted to get off and operated the handle?
Plenty of examples of very drunk people trying to open aircraft doors mid-flight, which are definitely not something you can stumble against or accidentally knock open.
Maybe he thought it was a compartment door or the toilet.
Imternal door handles would be perfectly safe WITH CDL.

To clarify, the Swanage DMUs are fitted with CDL
Agreed.
To clarify:
you wrote - "there is no reason why other railway companies should do the same."
whereas I think that you meant to write - there is no reason why other railway companies should NOT do the same.

In the 1960's BR accounting year was 1st Jan to 31st Dec. It changed to 1st April - 31st March in the 1980's sometime but do not recall actual year.

I take it that's different to claiming a vessel under salvage laws
To claim salvage the vessel must have been in peril. Difficult to argue that a vessel at anchor in a marina is in peril!

Aye - I was never happy with the state of the cast concrete "smoke deflectors" on the footbridge at Woking in my time there - wouldn't surprise me if that was the problem there or the "recent" works to add the new stairs may have now disturbed the existing structure.
Nothing to do with Woking station. It is the footbridge just west of Woking Junction.
