  1. Hi Johnster, I've said it before, I'll say it again, when are you going to write a book ? I feel that it would be worth the read ! Gibbo.
  2. Hi Folks, I shall continue to please myself with what I do and how I do it when ever I am inclined, my options are: Scratch build, mostly plasticard. Kit build, Parkside, Dapol, Cambrian, DC Kits, &c. Kit bash, as above. RTR bash, second hand form eBay, Hornby, Lima, Mainline, and Airfix. Adapt and bash 3d prints, all sorts of stuff on Shapeways. Any and all of the above are available to me from my stash of un-started and nearly started stuff although I shall probably buy some more stuff that I do not need to clutter my bench up al the same. Gibbo.
  3. Hi Dave, How about some of these suitably repainted: https://www.gaugemasterretail.com/magento/marklin-mn39062.html Gibbo.
  4. Hi There, Those blokes must be contractors foreign to Carlisle for not once have either of them said, "Eh, marra !" Gibbo.
  5. Hi Sandhole, The clue is in that the drawing is pencil upon paper should that point you toward disappointment that you may have. Plasticard is my usual medium. By all means use the dimensioned drawings I have found: Drawings.pdf Gibbo.
  6. Hi Folks, I really need to finish my four off : Gibbo.
  7. Hi James, I like the idea of the flying box logo, they will go well with your prototype flat wagons. Which reminds me that I have some Tartan Arrow boxes to get on with. How are the Cemflo's coming along, same as mine, slowly ? Gibbo.
  8. Hi There, My thoughts were that the Kitson-Meyer would be for the South Wales coal traffic and the Garret for Toton-Brent Traffic to supplement or replace the LMS Garrets, with the Mallet hauling the fast container trains on the east and west coast main lines. Gibbo.
  9. Hi Martyn, The Presflo's are the larger variant that were built for transporting fly ash from power stations, the ash is used for building blocks and gypsum plaster boards. The hopper body is two panels longer and they run on a 12' 6" wheel base frame set which is 18' 6" over headstocks. There were both vacuum and air braked versions classed as CSV and CSA, see below: https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brflyashpresflocsv/hbed8c95#hbed8c95 https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brflyashcsa Here is one I built earlier: I did a drawing for a 3d print for one but my assistant hasn't got around to translating it to CAD yet with things being as they are. Gibbo.
  10. Hi Martyn, Look what I found, at 27:20 : Gibbo.
  11. Hi Folks, Here is some more of my unfinished nonsense: BR Std class 11F, 2-6-0 0-6-2 Kitson-Meyer BR Std class 8F, 2-8-0. BR Std class 4, 0-6-0 0-6-0 Leader. BR STD Class 4, 2-6-2. BR Std class 8F, 2-8-4-0 articulated with booster unit. BR Std class 12F, 2-8-2 2-8-2 heavy coal Garret. Here is one that I finished: BR Std class 12F, 2-6-8-0 fast freight Mallett with Giesel ejector. Gibbo.
  12. Just to look at ! Thanks for the comments also. Gibbo.
  13. Hi Chaps, Actually half built on my bench a couple of years ago before I decided to do something else and not get back to it. Other unfinished nonsense is available upon request. Gibbo.
  14. Hi Steve, For lifts and slides of a large traverser you might want to look at the following gubbins: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T8-Lead-Screw-Pitch-2mm-Lead-2mm-Stainless-Rod-Linear-Rail-Bar-Shaft-w-Brass-Nut/352300505751?hash=item5206bf1a97:g:Sn4AAOSwv5xbuFeJ https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T8-Dual-Lead-Screw-Rod-OD8-Linear-Rail-Optical-Axis-With-Horizontal-Bearing-Set/183902987930?hash=item2ad178e69a:g:t0YAAOSw3dtdPu4D https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100mm-T5x2-Lead-Screw-Nema-11-Stepper-Motor-Linear-Actuator-External-0-75A/393069611816?epid=2298243570&hash=item5b84c64b28:g:1fYAAOSwNTZf5aPT My thoughts are that you could make a train deck that raises from under the baseboard upwards into a hollow ship that has a hole in its underside. When under the board level the train deck would then connect in its lowered position with a fiddle yard that could hold various sets of stock, The ship could be positioned into dock and the train deck raised empty so that the ship could be loaded, the train deck is then lowered and the ship could be moved off to France. The stock can then be shunted and swapped or reversed for the return of the ship once in dock the train deck could be raised into the ship and the ship unloaded. When the train deck is its lowered position its top surface would be the same finish as the water in the dock. I hope that makes sense ! Gibbo.
  15. Hi There, A two cylinder locomotive would be the kind of thing I was thinking of, I would have thought that the locomotive would ride as a Std five dose reasonably, I would guess that the roll of the Scots is due to them being three cylinder locomotives. You could reduce the cylinder diameter by half an inch to 18.5" X 28" and leave the boiler pressure at 250lb and the TE figure would be equivalent to the Clans or up the cylinders by half an inch and drop the boiler pressure to 225 and be the same as the Clans at 27520lb. Gibbo.
  16. Hi There, Would you be able to do a render that puts one of these boilers onto the Std 5 frame set to see what the Std class 6, 4-6-0 mentioned above might look like ? Gibbo.
  17. Just wait until you find out what she cleans with yours !
  18. Hi Stephen, It might look a bit like this but with a higher running plate and a BR 3 tender: Gibbo.
  19. Hi There, I would suggest that a Std class 6 4-6-0 would look like a Std class 5 fitted with a boiler of the proportions of the LMS Royal Scot class. Gibbo.
  20. Hi Mike, A man of your means ought to have a Pentax S1 fitted with a Takumar lens. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pentax-S1a-35mm-Film-Camera-Body-Only/203283838760?hash=item2f54a93728:g:4UsAAOSwCl5gL8Tn https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASAHI-PENTAX-SUPER-TAKUMAR-3-5-28-28MM-F-3-5-PRIME-CAMERA-LENS-M42/353394252385?hash=item5247f05a61:g:MwQAAOSwDWVgMTMb Gibbo.
  21. Hi Mike, You need a sunny day to use Agfa CT18 at F4, 1/30 ! Gibbo.
