Think lots of RMWebbers must have made good use of that offer - now says “out of stock”! Steve S -
Roof mounted bazookas? HOURS OF FUN!

I’ve read about that method, and it is one that I thought about trying except that the RTP building has etched brass window frames which gives them definite relief, which I didn’t think I could achieve with labels. However, if the plastic strip method doesn’t work second time around, I may resort to labelling. Alternatively brick up the bl@@dy window!! 🤣 Steve S

And what a strange feeling to open up RMWeb and not see a notification of new post/s on The Sheep Chronicles… 🥺 I will say it here - I miss that thread already. Steve S

Well, so much for that idea… Whole lot in the bin. 😡 Taped down the long vertical bars, then glued the top and bottom frames into place. So far, so good… I then tried to cut and glue the cross bars into position, all on top of a paper drawing… How the blazes* do you get short pieces of plastic strip exactly the same length?? And why is the carpet monster so damn hungry all the time?!! Resulting window frame looked like it had been built by a short sighted apprentice joiner whilst under the influence of several therapeutic cigarettes… Hence, the bin! Maybe another attempt tonight? As a musician, am now entering “silly season” ie the run up to Christmas, so very little active modelling time available. However, tonight I am going to have another go at the window, as stated above. Microstrip acquired, so the plan is to build up the frame rather than cut out from a single solid piece of plasticard as tried previously. Whether that works any better… Will have to post the results up here side by side, for comparison! HOURS OF FUN!

To be honest @MrWolf your goods shed on Aston is being used as the blueprint for mine on Sheepfoot Lane - after all, you’ve adapted a readily available kit and turned it into something that no longer shouts “built from a kit”! I called in at The Locoshed again yesterday in the hopes of them having said kit but it’s the one they don’t have in stock so have ordered one off them - could have picked one up new off eBay but rather put the money into my local model shop. I did pick up a packet of Wills doors and windows, though, to aid scratchbuilding and kit bashing, not having a stash of parts from previous kits to raid! Hours of Fun!

I’m probably one of those posters on your thread who has gone off a tangent, and for that I apologise. I do think perhaps it is an indication of what a ‘safe space’ you have made the Sheep Chronicles that that kind of thing happens - there are other threads I read on RMWeb that I dare not put reactions to posts, let along comment upon. I have to say that I don’t know “the other place” to which you refer but that I have found your thread here immensely inspirational, to the point of trying to emulate your modelling ethos/style/methods - to kind of paraphrase your own words, “If it’s good enough for Rob, it is definitely good enough for me” (even if you just said that the bare bones of a layout I purchased from you were not good enough for you! 🫢*) All I can say is that I look forward to seeing you post developments on whatever new projects you chose to do - and I promise (it’s in writing here now) that at no point will I post anything diverging from your stated intentions. Steve S * I am, of course, joking - I am immensely chuffed to have ‘Lambsdown’ as the backbone for ‘Sheepfoot Lane’ (the name being a homage to its origins and its originator)

I picked up a Wills weighbridge and office kit from The LocoShed on Thursday - the flat roofed brick office doesn’t fit my “Colonel Stephens” vision, so a scratchbuilt wooden office building is planned instead. I thought maybe I could use the door and window mouldings from the kit - at least they would give me predefined sizes in order to create the rest of building around them. Now to acquire a cattle dock (do I go single or double, I wonder?) Steve S

Coming out of a run of small scale “show and tell” music performances for parents, I wonder if what I do with those might be replicated for an exhibition layout*? For each activity, I have a PowerPoint slide that explains what we are doing and why we are doing it. Meanwhile, I am talking “live” whilst directing the concerts, which means talking around what is on the slide. So, I suppose a PowerPoint explaining what is happening with a recorded voice over track could “fill the spaces” - I’m certain it’s been done before. Being able to trigger the next slide rather than it running automatically should take any stress out of the process! Steve S * Yes, I know, stop asking questions and making suggestions, build an exhibitionable layout and just do it!

I reckon somebody at Rapido must have seen this post!! 😆 Steve S -
Done a bit of image searching following @Chris Snowdon’s post and I misremembered - it wasn’t a SQ “barn” as he stated, it’s a “hayloft”

Just finished reading through the entirety of the thread - and some interesting wood butchery/wall construction/wagon kit modifications/prototype information found within. Looking forward to further progress (sans long rambling off topic interruptions from myself!) Me very likey! Steve S
