For those that have asked, I have restored nearly all of the images of my London Road Models K2 2-6-0 build of 2019. The thread is:
Kind regards,

I have a confession to make - I stupidly ordered these "00" scale Westinghouse dummy point motors from Amazon which turned out to be "0" scale ! Dummy! To be fair to me, the scale was not very apparant on the website.
Just PM me and they are yours they are no use to me.
Kind regards,
Richard B

Ring the Bells, deck the Halls throw another log on the fire or perhaps mixing another GandT might be better in this weather.
It seems as if the double slip now works. A real devil though, I know I should have wired all the points before the boards were erected but I didn't! So this meant working under the baseboard to align the SEEP actuator with the point tie bar hole and then hold it in place while the SEEP is secured with a couple of self tappers...
The lack of light (always working in shadow no matter where the light source was located) under the baseboards made it all very blue! A real b*****d of a job. The seven shed yard points should be much easier...
Ah the joys of model railways!

Congratulations.
I have a kindly slave that comes to my place and crawls under the Boards and sorts my Point Motors whilst I ensure correct positioning above the Point/Item. They then press the Omega style Point up with the sticky pad adhearing and kindly screw the thing in place having double checked.
Pay is Drink and Bikkies. A cool weather job only.
However, when I tried to do my Double Slips on my own, it was bl##dy awful. Wiring them was bad enough but getting two bl##dy motors to drive the correct sequence was a nightmare as I am a dullard at wiring. On one out of the way jobby I decided on just one motor and the other ways will be done with wire in tube (WIT)!
Seeps ain't got sticky pads either!
The remaining one that is placed right at the front of the B.Boards, is going to be just WIT.
I am but a simple being!

Move to Buxton in wonderful Derbyshire is complete, well all our stuff is in the house. Some work for Mrs B and me to get some semblance of order. The main problem at the moment seems to be locating something you have seen amoungst the boxes but can't remember where?
Still at least the snow has arrived to greet us!
The model railway room - work to do!
Kind regards

Hi Leander,
I am not a stranger to Derbyshire we lived near Ashbourne. We were cut off without power for three days due to a snow storm followed by deep freeze which took down the power lines. Fed the family hot food cooked over our one open fire - stew was a favourite!
I have long discarded my thermals though so must get some!!
Kind regards,
Richard B

My birthday today! Mrs B has baked a cake and I managed to blow out the candle!
Looking forward to the move back to civilisation.
Remember, life is good even in these tricky times - good luck and good health everyone.
A picture of me a few years back - about to spend the day driving a Black Five on the Watercress Line. Loved it with my daughters taking turns at firing.

I am a confirmed modeller of SR Locomotives, primarily those having something to do with Basingstoke Shed so why could I not resist placing a pre-order for the following?
R3830
Thompson Class A2/2 4-6-2 60501 'Cock o' the North' in BR green with early emblem
R3834
Thompson Class A2/3 4-6-2 60512 'Steady Aim' in BR green with early emblem
R3844
Rebuilt Class W1 Hush-Hush 4-6-4 60700 in BR green with early emblem
And my next builds are for a DJH A2/3 and a Crownline A1/1.
The answer is simply that I have a huge admiration for the locomotives of the LNER too, and why not?
Kind regards,
Richard B

We went up to Stockport by train on Wednesday to visit our (pregnant) daughter. On Thursday we got the train to visit Buxton for the day, a town I rather like. Little did we know that we got the last train back to Davenport Station before closure of the line! I remember noting a couple of police vans blocking the roads close to Whaley Bridge station but thought no more of it!
Don't have any more railway trips planned!

Should I go for Gold I wonder?

Back from a cruise around the Baltic in a very large ship. All cities visited rather wonderful. No chance for railways though, Mrs B would only agree to trip from Wernemunde to Rostock (two pairs of shoes purchased by Mrs B) and back. Very lovely places to visit though.

I don't suppose that this is in any way a unique thought amongst my fellow modellers of a certain age but those of us that grew up with a steam railway are getting less and less in numbers. It was the realisation that many modellers on this website look on the diesel era with as much fondness as I do the steam era that has brought it home to me.
Whilst there is nothing to be said, time moves on, it is good that this site gives us old buffers the chance to pass on our knowledge and experiences.
I never cease to be amazed at the quality and variety of my colleagues endeavours not least of which is the photography, wish I had more skills in this direction.
