  1. Visiting local modelshop today to preorder class 73, and was advised to expect a long wait. The owner told me that many of Dapols models may be delayed or cancelled because the Chinese factory they use has recently bankrupted, meaning all tooling and current work now unreachable. Information directly from Dapol sales themselves who said MD rushing to China for negotiation. A call to Dapol resulted in a flat No Comment. Can anyone here confirm or deny said rumor?
  2. I think it has been, but for further clarity, the entry we are seeking is: xx APRIL 2018 Micro company accounts made up to 31 July 2017 The confirmation statement (IMHO a 'nothing' document) simply states no directors have changed, but as a communication from the company it was sufficient to discontinue the strike off action. Accounts and fines are still applicable. DJModels have still not discharged a legal obligation to show the public how monies have been apportioned. To keep this sort of information secret, Dave Jones should consider becoming a sole trader. Of course, then if he becomes insolvent would be personally liable for debts. Unlike DJModels current status as a limited company which avoids this inconvenience (if no spare cash exists upon insolvency, then it is too bad). It might be speculated that the lack of urgency to submit accounts and the djmodels.co.uk website being allowed to expire are indicators that perhaps sole trader is the path which is chosen. Perhaps the "new" ecommerce website will list a new company name, perhaps the old, perhaps the new website (promised to be running last weekend) will or will not use a new domain name, perhaps CH will show the accounts as being submitted in the next few days. Too much money is being asked for on simple trust with the promise of a desirable object at some point in the future. But there is so much smoke and mirrors around this scheme. All mere speculation, time will tell. In the meantime we must all rely on the official explanation by DJ Models before we invest multiple 100'2 of thousands of pounds in APT's, Class 92's, Kings etc. etc. There always has been an incredibly simple (at least to the more than 1.4 million Ltd companies in the UK) solution. File the blessed accounts. Why is this simple fact continually ignored? Such simple steps, so much trust regained. One last comment. Dave Jones intimated that lack of re-payments after refunds were due to posts pointing out facts. May I ask, has anyone genuinely: a) Received a refund b) Received a request for repayment c) Been informed of a working method of resubmitting that payment? I propose that unless the answer to all 3 is a resounding yes from all funding parties then that maybe a tangible reason why re-subscriptions are low!
  3. I think you would find that if their accounts were truly 12 months late being filed the company would have been struck off, since the last communication received before the accounts was January 2018. Therefore much more than the 9 months permitted. I would suggest that an accounting extension or revision of accounting period was agreed with CH. - Perhaps best discussed in the Revolution thread is it must be so?
  4. Its been mentioned many times what the financial stakes are for the APT. The Class 92, and King are also attracting crowd funded finance for DJM. I'm not sure if there are others? The reason I and many others are highlighting this issue is that DJModels are canvasing monies based on a promise to deliver. That promise should be backed by good practice and good husbandry of the monies kept by in trust by the company. A calculation of the costs based on information from the companies house website. (https://www.gov.uk/annual-accounts/penalties-for-late-filing) shows To underline the gravity with which accounts submissions are held, the first sentence found under the heading 'Consequences of not filing' states: Failure to file accounts is a criminal offence which can result in directors being fined personally in the criminal courts It then lists fines due. The records show this is the third time out of the possible 4 in which accounts have fallen overdue ( year ending 2015 was filed on the last possible date due). From information available at the CH website this means DJModels have to date incurred a minimum of £525 in fines due for late submission alone. Mr Jones has stated twice in this forum that the situation will be resolved within days, twice however, it has not been resolved, therefore he is aware of the problem. A large fine of £750 is already levied, this will increase until the accounts for 2016-2017 are submitted. Until today, they were less than 3 months late and so the fine would only have been £375. But, as this is the second consecutive year of late submissions, an automatic doubling of the fine is enforced. If the accounts were not received by CH today, then the fine will rise to £750, this is automatically doubled to £1500. If received by today, then 'only' £750 will be due. With the previous years fines it would appear that between £1275 and £2025 will have been incurred in penalties, C.H. will show the accounts as "received, pending processing" within 24 hours of a postal or electronic submission.
  5. Thanks for the help Mike. Odd, as mine definitely does have switches. An explanation maybe in the thread running on Dapols own forum (N gauge Castle) which suggests that PCB fitting is a rather hit and miss affair with them. For completeness, I had phoned Dapol again earlier today and eventually spoke to a guy who told me empirically and forcefully that no changes have been made to the model. I got the impression he was receiving rather a lot of the same question.
  6. I recently discovered that the DJMODELS.CO.UK domain name expired on the 11th July. https://www.nominet.uk/whois/?query=djmodels.co.uk#whois-results I assume the website is only still operating due to the 30 day 'grace' period most ISPs and Nominet operate. No other variations appear to be registered to Dave Jones. (A quick search at most hosting companies will show variations on a registered name which are registered already. Since a companies domain name is its online identity, One would usually be very reluctant to loose it. Normally this is renewed by standing order (being only £6 - £12 per year in costs). Of course, this could be a planned change of identity from one which has been established over many years, though why this would be desirable cannot surmise, when names are freely and easily transferable to new web hosts and web sites etc. I'm certain therefore, this will turn out to be either bad advice received or a silly oversight due to various factors. Once more, a quick online action would put this right within hours David.
  7. That thread is discussing crowd funding in our hobby in general. Comments here are very relevant to DJModels and his crowd funding schemes. However since the behavior of DJModels is not directly related to the APT project, but to all the crowd funded and advance payment schemes being run by Dave Jones, I suggest a separate threat should be started within the DJMODELS section. Perhaps pinned until the errant accounts are submitted and the law seen to be complied with?
  8. I believe it should be highlighted that this "scrutiny and criticism" is actually a legal requirement.
  9. Please advise as I can't get the lights working and it looks like becoming an ebay bargain soon. Dapol have told me no changes have been made (or are un-aware that their factory have changed it) and nothing needs to be changed for the lights to work, but there are all kinds of seemingly after-thought switches inside the thing. All in all very confusing and overly complex for an everyday feature that other manufacturers achieve with elegant simplicity.
  10. As one of those referenced by the above; No you have not explained, to me at least, nor apparently to Durham Trains of Stanley who apparently forwarded my email to you, and presumably my order as well.
  11. Yes, and again words found in many postings such as 'luck' are used. Hardly an affirmative statement. When, in response to a legal requirement which has failed to be met the following promise was posted some weeks ago, using the word 'should' I hope you will excuse my curiosity on the substance of that statement. It is a fact that the accounts remain overdue some weeks later, instead a document with little meaning was filed, thereby demonstrating was still trading and so prevented off the strike-off action. Forgive me if I find that also curious. I want this to succeed, however there are many curious elements to the DJModels way of doing business which remain unexplained by the company officers.
  12. May I ask if anyone here has received a refund, or alternatively made a payment through the new channel or had any kind of communication from DJModels (apart from their requests for further orders in other threads) I speak as a perhaps overly cautious 'want to be' customer but as one who has not received any contact from the seller and who's agent (see below) appears to be in limbo as well. Other indications do not portend glad tidings. At the time of writing DJModels accounts still are not received by companies house. Perhaps someone could put an encouraging positive spin on this? Perhaps he is simply busy? Hi John I don't know what's happening i wish i could answer your question i've had no update from dave. I have forwarded this email to Dave Jones for you. Regards Mick On Tue, Jul 17, 2018 at 12:13 PM, John Edwards <xxxxxxxxx> wrote: Dear Michael, I am increasingly concerned about this transaction and dispite waiting for some time I am not any more comfortable. Your reply suggests that Durham Trains have nothing to do with this model, at least contractually. I have not received any contact from DJ Models whatsoever. I note that postings have been made on public forums stating that refunds are being made to those who have paid already via paypal, but that those payments are being delayed by Paypal for unspecified reasons. Checking with companies house no accounts have yet been received, yet they have received enough information to discontinue strike-off action. The document received is meaningless in terms of the companies financial situation and the lack of any accounts being submitted do not suggest the actions of a company with nothing to hide. I regret that this does not reflect well on Durham Trains as the facilitators of this scheme and unless I receive a constructive response from Durham trains or DJ models please consider my order null and void. The reason for the pay-pal being frozen is that they were accusing dave as there was so much money going in then out ie to pay for scanning. So Dave Jones has spoke with lloyds explaining what's happened and are happy to open an account were future payments are paid into but takes time to link it with Daves site which i know he is rebuilding in order to take future payments. As regards the first payment Dave will send out the invoices as soon as possible and rest assured there is not a problem with the future of the APT-P if there was i would hope Dave Jones would let me know. I have not yet had any request for payment from yourselves or from 'DJModels'. This morning i was distressed to read that there is now a compulsory strike off order in force against DJModels Ltd. With this recent development in addition to their paypal account being frozen for money laundering investigation (as stated by the owner of DJM on a public website), I am very concerned about the future of this project. Whilst have not yet paid any monies, and only stand to loose a model which I desire, there is a large sum due to be paid, with, I assume an invoice due for part of this imminently. Therefore I am writing to you in your capacity of agent for DJM (although your order acknowledgement suggests my contract is with yourselves, regardless of whom is paid) to ask for re-assurance that you consider DJModels a safe and reliable company to do business with, and also to ask what steps you as agent/promotor have taken to ensure that monies paid are to be used for the purposes stated. 13. I took delivery of a Blue, small yellow panel yesterday. I can't comment on the colour but both the blue and yellow don't match with either my Hornby or Bachmann models. But I will accept that. I'm surprised there haven't been any comments on the lighting control for these models, am I the only one who has noticed the significant alterations to the old model?
  14. I ordered 2 APTs on Friday and then read this thread. In consequence I contacted the company I ordered it off (Durham Trains of Stanley) questioning the situation. I received a very fast reply from a company representative (which I have posted below). This reply and some additional research suggests this is a common occurrence in many companies. Unfortunately for DJMODELS, Dave still carries a certain amount the tarnish acquired by his former employers and their business model being the major factor in his starting DJM. Since then Dave has produced numerous exceptional models in terms of quality and accuracy and have won multiple awards. The rancor held by certain companies, has encouraged amplification of every single minor discrepancy that DJmodels in all innocence have fallen into. DJMODELS have proven them wrong time and time again. I say do as I have and place your orders in a SAFE pair of hands. Email explanation from Durham Trains of Stanley: Hi John Thanks for your email.
