  1. Hi, No this is in 1893 livery when originally sent to Southampton docks Regards, Richard
  2. Hi Edwardian, Our model of GUERNSEY is decorated in the standard goods livery with light green lining as mentioned by Bradley and the HMRS LIVERY REGISTER No. 3 LSWR & Southern, however you are saying this is incorrect and the lining should be white. When NORMANDY was restored the livery was Holly green with light green lining, so I feel white lining is the odd ball out and our model is correct. Regards, Richard
  3. Actually there is one with the swan neck delivery pipe at NOTHIAM on the K.E.S.R. where we recorded the sound several years ago for the Dapol 0 scale terrier model. I have attached a picture for reference although the ladder, etc. is different
  4. Regarding the stay alive capacitors, these would be very useful on a short 4 - coupled wheelbase locomotive and others that have rigid suspension to maintain smooth performance. The new Dapol 0-4-2 has been designed with a FULLY compensated chassis and sprung plunger pick-ups on all six wheels, to avoid the use of these capacitors. The new slide in PCB for decoder/speaker installation won an award last year at Warley for its invention, which we are very proud of, helping our customers to fit a DCC decoder for improved performance and sound fitting if required without the use of tools such as a soldering iron Regards, Richard
  5. Hi Hal, The etched plate is fitted into a small recess the beading around is moulded to the cab and painted body colour, to remove the number plate you need to get a craft knife an place inside the beading to prize off. I have attached a picture showing the moulded on beading Hope that helps Best Richard
  6. Hi Hal, Yes you are correct Peto's register details locomotive sheds, repairs, etc. I rechecked last night and I made another era regarding boiler exchanges, 1426 had FIVE boiler changes over the 29 years not ten which was the number of times of recorded repairs. 1426 last boiler exchange was July 1958 at 671,573 miles. It appears that four or five seems the average number of boiler changes for the 4800/1400 class and 5800 class. Also Peto states 'spares for the class were reconditioned boilers from 517 class locomotives and were not, therefore brand new' Peto's Register is a wonderful book describing the 4800/1400 class and 5800 class 0-4-2 locomotives, with many sharp images of the class at different periods and full of technical information, I recommend this book if you can obtain one. Best, Richard
  7. Hi Miss Prism, I had a senior moment the lifespan of 1426 should be 29 years NOT 39 years - 1933 to 1962. Best, Richard
  8. Hi, Actually 1426 covered 755,005 miles before being withdrawn and had 10 boiler exchanges during its lifetime of 39 years Best, Richard
  9. Hi, Number 1426 had a major overhaul at Caerphilly works in April 1960 when a non top feed boiler was fitted and then repainted in B.R. lined green livery with late crest. Many thanks for the comments regarding the models, I believe this is the first mass produced RTR model to be produced with a fully compensated chassis to improve track holding and electrical pick-up. Also we wanted models to be well protected whilst in transit so pleased to hear that you like the new packaging. Kind Regards to all, Richard
  10. Hi Steph, No worries, we shall be releasing the blue/grey decorations in the first run of the original build, coach numbers gleaned from those unmodified, plus unnumbered also available. Kind Regards, Richard
  11. Hi Steph, Thank you for your interest in the blue grey MK1 decorations. We have tooled both original build and later build with window and door beading's, however we shall release the original models first, but hopefully the later version will not be too far behind Regards, Richard
  12. Hi Steph Thanks for your kind words not too long to wait now. Which period/decoration are you interested in Kind Regards Richard
  13. Hi Steph, Hal and Paul Once we had received the decorated samples this issue of the side to end fitting was obvious in particular the lining of the maroon version, so we have corrected the tools for all bodyshells which has taken a while and delayed production, but we hope you appreciate the wait, as we want to produce the best MK1 series of coaches available. We expect new decorated samples soon and I will post pictures once received. Please see attached picture showing the raw plastic full length side including the small end curve which will also be painted in relevant colour and lining if present.
  14. Hi Stephen, OK, sounds like a plan, will be in contact later next week. Thank you Regards, Richard
  15. Hi, Rivet detail is present on the tanks and bunker, I have attached a picture for reference. You will note the numberplate beading on the tank side also. This part of the numberplate is painted in the same body colour, very noticeable on Great Western green and British Railways green, picture attached of Dapol 57xx numberplate to illustrate this in Great Western green. Regards to all, Richard
  16. Hi Miss P, Just added pictures here of the prototype and model for interest. Regards, Richard
  17. Hi Miss P, you are correct the difference in diameter is approx a prototype 3/16" equates to just over 4 thou in 7mm. scale. Regards Richard
  18. Hi Captain, The etched plates made and fitted by the factory are made to the cabside plate dimension with out the 1/2 " beading, so other plates will require removing the outer edge to make them a good fit, however I will suggest that it would be a good idea to contact Narrow Planet for special plate number service at our next management meeting. Regards, Richard
  19. Hi Rosspop, The chassis is fully compensated as follows:- Front driving axle is fixed and pony wheel rocks laterally so providing main suspension. The centre driving wheel is motorised and sprung allowing for any imperfections in trackwork. All six wheels have plunger electrical pick-up to improve performance. Regards, Richard
  20. Hi Ray, There is a very small change in diameter where the main brass chimney joins the plastic,. I have attached a picture of 4800 as built showing this. Regards, Richard
  21. Hi Miss P, The chimney and dome dimensions are correct to the Swindon General Arrangement of 1932, and regarding the joggle in the upper half of the footsteps we shall try to adjust if possible, however the overall dimension of the footsteps is correct to the GA. Regards to all, Richard
  22. I am attaching a picture showing the raised beading of the cab side number on the first shots of the 48xx locomotives, plus a picture of the Dapol Pannier tank locomotive cab side number plate showing the painted raised beading and fitted brass plate 5700
  23. All Great Western locomotive cab side number plates have a 3/4" outer beading (0.44mm) which is painted body colour, so the design of all ex Lionheart and the new Dapol locomotives have this small beading moulded to the cab side which is painted the relevant body colour. It also ensures the plates are mounted horizontally by the factory workers. If purchasing an unnumbered model the small beading on an etched plate needs removing and then the new plate will fit in the small recess. Best Regards, Richard
