@Hacksworth_Sidings Rather than a pillar drill you might want to see if they have any hand reamers to get better accuracy to start with.

Dinky versions are still readily available. This thread has prompted me to drag this forward from the back of the bench. An abandoned work in progress from some some time ago that I now have an idea of how to progress when I get back to it.

Not sure I would agree; Last year I had a very enjoyable day out on the Swanage Railway, travelling from Oxford, when the line to Didcot was closed, meaning a bus journey at the start and end of the day. I took the DMU to Norden, alighted there and then rode behind 31806 to Swanage and back to Corfe Castle, alighting there for the DMU on to Wareham. It did help that it was a lovely sunny day however!
Unfortunately the cost of operating over the main line to Wareham was not covered by passenger numbers.
Did you manage to visit the castle or Swanage? If not SWIMBO would just view that as a day jumping on and off trains unfortunately. That was my issue, and for others I suspect who are less enthusiast than myself.
As for the traffic, that will largely be day trippers so you need to give them a day trip. I think the literature quoted 2hrs to visit either the castle or the town. Most of that would be taken up by finding and then having lunch for a lot of people.
I can see the routing issue though. Someone's gone and stuck a car park on the bay platform at Wareham so there is no where to hide the DMU in peak hours. I think the rail tour idea is onto something. Run it from Poole or Southampton once or twice a week to mop up tourists along the way. In during the morning, back early evening.

Rather than start a new thread I'll post this here. Wareham connection a commercial failure.

Have to say I'm not surprised. First train wasn't until 11 and it was diesel all the way to Swanage. When I looked last year there wasn't time to get a ride behind steam if you were a day visitor, unless that's all you did, and for those of us with authorities to satisfy that wasn't going to wash. Shame as I really wanted it to succeed but it didn't seem to have a strategy behind it.
I was looking to see if there was a better option for 2024 but alas no. As the number 1 thing to do in Swanage on trip advisor (2 is the castle and 3 is a rock) you would think they could get some marketing support from tourist information. Hopefully next year...

Depending on when they introduced NEM to their kits I probably have some. PM me middle of next week as a reminder. A photo of what you want would help also.
I am in the UK and I note your profile says you are on the other side... Postage could be an issue.

Hi, you will find many topics on here dedicated to similar discussions. There is no definitive answer. Generally at next overhaul. The railways were/are a business and taking anything out of service would mean lost income so they wouldn't do it any earlier than was required. Additionally the railways only had workshops appropriate to the levels of construction/maintenance they needed to support their business. They wouldn't have had the capacity to take on many additional repaints.
I can't go to my books ATM to see when the southern corporate livery was set but you can expect the ballance to shift more towards Southern corporate livery the further you get from 1923. You'd also find pre grouping liveries looking more tired as time progresses.
Rule 1 can be stretched quite a bit to suit what you want to model.

Referencing nothing but my own thoughts...
If the rumoured mass exodus from Red Bull turns out to be true (particularly MV) then I would suspect some form of cheating will come to light shortly after. Spice allegations fall out perhaps leading to some home truths being more widely known in the team. Those that can, getting out before the FIA come in.
Anyone know any dodgy accountants...?

Have to say I presumed the speculation to be nonsense but Newey moving on is a surprise.
Could he be going to Mercedes? I can't see him wanting to move to Italy. Toto has just been throwing everyone off with the Max stuff. Although with how rude and ungrateful Max is on the radio I can understand Adrian not wanting to provide him with a car.

In my experience parkside wagons are quite light. You'll likely need a weighty load to keep that wagon from derailing.

I'm in my 4th decade and remember slam door stock coming through East Croydon although admittedly I was sub 5. All the doors opening on a still moving train made a lasting impression!

Disused bay platform at West Worthing. Very overgrown at the moment but when I last looked in the winter it was still connected to the carriage sidings although with no provision for outside third!

Presumably the person out front didn't have any controls other than steering? I don't fancy sitting there on a downhill section if it runs away!

Never write off to malevolence what could have been caused by incompetence.
At least they got a run although there is mention here of it not completing the tour. Lack of crew/fuel after the issues in the morning?

Back on route, just through Raynes Park. That's going to be a spirited run to Bristol I feel!

Looks like it's late away? No live timings showing up yet?

Steam today. Horsham to Bristol pulled by Mayflower.

I believe Fenchurch goes on holiday to the SVR today. Family commitments will keep me away but hopefully some here will get pictures/video.

That's correct. That is a Lima dirt hoover. Not keen on train set points but runs well once it's going. The train it's pulling is all Lima too.
