  1. Really helpful points thank you, especially about the transfer to Midland division I just find them such lovely vehicles but not sure I’m eager to do the LNWR lining Done right they’re stunning
  2. Thanks that’s helpful. Wasn’t sure about livery changes. Assumed fully lined for period I LMS but thought I’d seen somewhere that they retained LNWR livery for quite a while. Thanks again
  3. Does anyone have any photos of LNWR coaches as represented by the ratio kits in LMS livery. Thanks. Previously posted in error in Peco forum
  4. Does anyone have any photos of Ratio LNWR Coach Kits in LMS livery Considering getting hold of a rake for LMS setting
  5. Those are really helpful Working out the parts list is going to be half the fun
  6. Thanks jimwal Yes just spotted that, again on Hattons As an aside, has anyone heard if the Hattons database has been/will be acquired and maintained A huge loss if not Thanks to TheSignalEngineer for those recommendations and resources Sounds like I’ve got my work cut out
  7. Thanks jimwal Yes just spotted that, again on Hattons As an aside, has anyone heard if the Hattons database has been/will be acquired and maintained A huge loss if not
  8. Are the Mainline/Bachmann models of period II correct at 57’?
  9. Thanks Steamport Southport I’ll look into the Mainline models
  10. Thanks MikeParkin65 The family trees of these models is hard to keep a grip on
  11. Thanks to Behar and 64F That’s helpful and clear How much adaptation would this Dapol version need to get to an accurate representation?
  12. I recently saw a comment on this year’s Hornby releases lamenting the absence of up to date Hornby LMS Composites, a feeling I wholeheartedly agree with. Latest LMS offerings are R4803 LMS Period 3 Corridor 1st Class ‘1041’ (2017-20 inclusive) R4804 LMS Period 3 Corridor 3rd Class ‘1745’ (2017-19 inclusive) R4805 LMS Period 3 Corridor Brake 3rd Class ‘5726’ (2017-20 inclusive) Hatton’s database has the date for their tooling as 2005. But obviously no Composites there. The most recent Composites as far as I’m aware are R4130A LMS Composite Coach ‘4000’ (2001-2) R4130B LMS Composite Coach ‘4001’ (2001-3 inclusive) R4130C LMS Composite Coach ‘4020’ (2002-3) R4130D LMS Composite Coach ‘3954’ (2004) In this case, the tooling according to Hattons is 1977. My question is, in the absence of new offerings being planned, just how useful or not are these 1977 (presumably Triang) examples as the basis for an upgrade? Do they represent a particular diagram at all? What changes or additions would improve them or is the body shell completely inaccurate? The thoughts of those with more knowledge than I would be greatly appreciated
  13. Have recently been given some old Railway Modeller mags and found a number of articles on Weed Killer trains during Big 4 era. Any suggestions for RTR stock and locos that could be used to form such trains and any suggestions for modifications thanks
  14. Thank you Assume that also includes Hornby Siphon Gs (prior to this latest example with an identity crisis).
  15. Just for completeness, do the Shapeways 9’ American bogies work for both Siphon Gs and Hs??
  16. Thank you all for the reality check Such a missed opportunity Taken off my Christmas list will continue with my conversions Shapeways here I come again...
  17. Does the new Hornby GWR Siphon H have accurate bogies? Previous models eg Mainline version needed conversion with Shapeways 9’ American bogies. If the new Hornby bogies are accurate then presumably they are candidates to use on improving the old Mainline version. Interested in people’s views
  18. Thank you. Thought it was to good to be true about structural accuracy. Would be grateful for any sample numbers you have for original Rn with corresponding Ambulance Train number, or a source of such info. Thanks again
  19. Going back to the Mainline BTK and CK, I’ve used Jenkinson Essery to find that I can do an Ambulance Train conversion by a paint job. Mainline CK serial 37109 RN 3621 D1694 Mainline BTK serial 37110 RN 5327 D1696 The CK can become a Personnel Car and the BTK can become a Spare Car The table which shows the later conversions of Ambulance cars to full brakes has the original running numbers and full brake running numbers but not the Ambulance Train running numbers. Anyone know where these can be found?
  20. Question to Tony Cane re the picture posted last Wednesday 10.29 of RN 3207 Lima conversion Are the sides original GWR livery or is that a khaki repaint?
  21. Thanks to WD1995 What are the Ref no’s and Running numbers for the Mainline coaches. Are they the correct diagram or is there structural work to do? Thanks to The Johnster Will go there for extra bogies as I’ve got some Hornby Siphon Gs to upgrade too
  22. That’s brilliant thanks Will start on this as a project Am looking at detailing work on a RTR Siphon including the American bogies and will go for the shirt button logo and numbering as per photo Thanks for all the input
