Thank you all for the latest.
The album from Tony Cane shows some great opportunities for conversions.
I like the Siphon G 2067 converted to carry stretchers.
It doesn’t have much in the way of livery change.
These photos alongside Jenkinson and Essery should provide info on source vehicles.
I’ve read a number of threads about a range of coach types and non-passenger vehicles that were used as ambulance coaches in WW2.
Are there any RTR examples that are known to have been used in this way (I’m aware of siphon G and SR luggage vans) that could be converted by renumbering and applying of appropriate livery (eg Red Cross and white roof) and are such running numbers known and listed somewhere?
Thanks
Great thanks
No criticism for the siphon digression - it was me who asked the question and it has all been useful
I now have a longer list of conversions to do which will be fun
Great thanks
To return to the main thread having made a journey into GWR matters rather than my GUV
- Am I right over the LMS GUV taking 36-024 LMS Bachmann
Re the Bachmann Bogies...
The one I’ve found listed are
36-005A Mk1
36-007A Bulleid
36-008A Commonwealth
36-024 LMS
36-037 B4
36-038 Y25
Am assuming the LMS GUV takes 36-024 LMS which I take it are for NPCS
Supplementary at a tangent
Conversion of Hornby GWR Siphon G is advised by some on another thread to take American Bogies
Are these available by Bachman?
Showing my ignorance, are they on that list I’ve just quoted
Thanks for the further info links and offers. About to go ahead on an eBay version in great condition. Will probably get going on upgrade given all the encouragement
Thank you all for the comments
All helpful and I’ll give an upgrade a go
Hope I’m not bidding against The Johnster on eBay
Comment on the Stove R was just that at one stage I was tempted to get one and go through the upgrading but another thread put me off with the amount of work
I gather there is a Comet models version but don’t know how that stacks up
Can anyone make a comment on how accurate the Lima LMS GUV 37762 is?
Is it a correct diagram?
Does it share the same problems as the Dapol LMS Stove R?
Thanks
a) what bogies would be a good swap out
b) how does Mainline stack up on accuracy
sorry, just managed to open your first link which helps on bogies
comments on Mainline still be good though
This has probably been asked before but...
Can someone give me a run down on SR Green Liveries
Eg are Olive, Malachite and Bulleid greens found at the same time during era 3 or
Did they follow one after the other
I’m trying to get hold of SR Bogie Luggage Vans and Van Cs and the former come in Olive and Malachite the latter in Olive and Bulleid
Ultimately I want to know what I can run together
thanks
Anyone know of any RTR, kit or potential conversion for those diagrams recently mentioned by Miss Prism and Wickham Green ie
K9, K10, K12, K17
C10, M28
Please can anyone say whether they are aware of any clerestory Passenger stock from the big 4 in era 3 being converted to carry parcels?
If so are any such represented in Hornby stock that might be ripe for a modelling conversion?
Thank you
