Quite like industrial and light railways, also most mainline companies. Especially the NER and GNR.

    Easily distracted by narrow gauge!

  1. Carrying on from last post, another TLR engine I've had planned for a while now has begun. (Would probably be better to finish a loco rather than having 4 on the go!) Meet TLR No.5 "Osric", named after a King of Northumbria and is a NER E1. Fictional history wise it was loaned by the NER to the TLR in 1917 along with 2 other engines to help with war traffic and later bought in 1919. Below shows a mock up of a workmans train to Fordstone colliery (only the middle coach is finished). *not sure why but it's upside down!* Next post will most likely be on the layout as scenery has begun! Till next time, Northern :)
  2. Two updates in one month!? Been working on the history of my fiction company and some of the engines that will run on it! Introducing the Tilldale Light Railway, a line located between Coldstream in the west and the banks of the River Till in the east for the transportation of passengers and goods (predominantly coal). Three engines that will work for the company are being done up. First up is TLR No.4 *currently unnamed*, a steam railcar being made out of an old Hornby 4 wheeler. It's being painted in a mix passenger red and the brown coach livery. I'm planning on building a trailer coach to go along with it. After that is TLR No.9 *also unnamed*, an NER K class kit I've had for some time. Currently getting missing details added and will then be painted in goods umber. Finally is TLR No.10 "Viscount Berkton", a LSWR falcon which arrived from the bay of e this morning. It needs a lot of work but I'm sure it'll be a fun project! It'll end up in passenger red too. Glad to see this project progressing and will update further when things move forward! Thanks for reading! Northern :)
  3. Hello again! Here's the August update for the workbench. I'm glad to say that the layout is coming close to starting scenery and the number of projects coming through the workbench has increased in the past month. First off is a narrow gauge diversion of my recently completed fourdees Dolgoch kit I bought (among many things) from the shop at Wharf Station finished up as my line's No.1 "Harlech". She just needs plates and a chassis now! Here she is posed next to No.4 "William". Next is the Hornby 101 body mentioned in the last post which is nearing completion! It seems to have stolen the buffers from the Dolgoch kit to represent an engine that'll be managing both standard stock and chaldron wagons. There's one more loco started today which I'll share when it's progressed further. Well that's enough rambling from me! Thanks, Northern :)
  4. Hello! Its been almost a month since I started this thread and have posted no progress on what I've been doing! The layout board has just had a base coat and track will start being layer tomorrow. In the meantime I popped into the local model shop and came back with some projects! The two vans will be restored to working order whilst the coach is getting a repaint into the line's passenger livery. The GWR 101 body is being modified to look more freelance and will probably end up being a station pilot or push-pull fitted to go with the keyers(?) autocoach kit. The autocoach will either be built as normal or into 2 coaches similar to the pair on the Isle of Wight. I'll post more progress as things get finished off. Bye for now! Northern :)
  5. Hello, I'm Northern (both geographically and by username!) I've been reading threads on here for quite a while but only recently decided to take the plunge and start one myself. Here you can expect the development of both models and a layout for my fictional company *currently unnamed!* located in a made up area of Northumberland. Planning has just begun on the layout which will depict Wilbourne Station on the branchline of the same name. In addition drafts for locos which will run the line are being written/drawn up as we speak, but I'll keep those secret for the time being! I hope you stick around for what I'm aiming to be an enjoyable read as I *hopefully* work on developing this project. Northern
