  1. Just wanted to give the Service Dept at Barwell a thumbs up and a thank you. Emailed Wednesday with an enquiry for a spare part, replied same day, paid over the phone Thursday and the item arrived this morning ; Great service.
  2. The brake vans; In the foreground two Bachmann early versions, CAP and a repainted ZTO. And two later versions, CAO and a limited edition CAR from Modelzone. Next, motive power
  3. A Class 31 with a short parcels train from Hull makes its way through Willerby, ... ... made up of two GR Wrenn SPVs from the 1970s and two very new Bachmann CCTs. And on its way towards York. Next ; the brake vans
  4. Good morning Steve. Spotted the LNER concrete hut on Rectory Farm Siding and looks a nice product. Thank you so much for your kind offer. I’m happy with the smaller (medium) Ten Commandments hut ; it fits nicely against the brick wall, without dominating the front of the layout. Have a good weekend
  5. The LNER concrete hut from Ten Commandments fits in nicely With a little filing and scribing the position of the door has been moved. A little weathering, add some weeds and clutter , the concrete hut will make a nice addition to the layout
  6. A class 08 has made the short trip from the inward yard at Hessle with fuel supplies for the cement works. The TTA wagons are from Bachmann with added Railtec hazchem signs and thinned Humbrol rail dirt paint allowed to run down the sides. The class 08 shunter, with faded paintwork, is a Bachmann collectors club limited edition from 2003. Next up, Parcels. And for the time being that should be enough engineering and goods wagons for he Willerby area.
  7. Sheffield Midland this morning. a prototype for everything !!
  8. ... ah most of the time! I’ve added weights and NEM coupling help.
  9. Three Hornby PCA wagons have arrived in the exchange sidings to supplement a dozen Presflo wagons ...waiting for the cement works shunter. The wagons now have Railtec transfers, Wizard Models brake wheels and coupling hooks. The large Hornby tension lock couplings have been replaced with Bachmann NEM couplings.
  10. A little groundwork has been carried out at Willerby; BOCM, having purchased the good warehouses for the distribution of animal feed, have completed the base work, before they concrete around the warehouse siding. And Metcalfe & Co have laid cobblestones alongside the coal siding, ready for some coal bins and a yard light. A couple of 16t wagons have been left in the coal siding.
  11. Impressed with the Shapeways instanter couplings, they are featured on Chadwick Model Railways; https://youtu.be/EbRS5vClYY0 However I’m hands on uncoupling single wagons from short trains of 4/5 wagons and no fixed rakes ; I’m waiting patiently for Bachmann !
  12. An update, of sorts. I’ve had a prompt reply from Barwell re Bachman 36-030 and 36-061 couplings, they still don’t have a release date and to keep checking their website for a delivery date.
  13. Thank you for the reply. If you don’t mind, I’m ignoring the improbable and the cost cutting; applying plenty of modellers licence instead! Imagine that the double track is retained from Hull to Hedon/or nearly, as the line serves the Docks and industries In Marfleet and Saltend., If It helps some track simplification can take place.
  14. Can someone help with signalling Hedon Station (Closed 1964) on the Hull to Withernsea line, IF it had survived into the 1980s ? The diagram above is a copy of the Station plan c1906. It was operated as a double to single track block post from the early 1900s until closure. Help with positioning 2/3 aspect colour light signalling and ground signals would be appreciated. Also any signage i.e ‘Stop, await instructions/collect token’ would be greatly appreciated.
  15. ...’ripe for modelling’ ,better late than never...Based on the above photo and drawings by Peter Goss (Railway Modeller March 2002)
  16. The low relief Goods Warehouses were completed this morning. Based on the buildings that once stood close to Beverley station on the Hull to Scarborough line. There are similar warehouses at Driffield and Bridlington. Thank you to Peter Goss for the drawings (Railway Modeller March 2002)
  17. The Goods Warehouses, part 2 completed today. This is the left hand building
  18. The low relief Goods Warehouses (part 1) . The right hand side building completed and taking in yesterdays evening sun. Based on the now demolished buildings at Beverley. And on to part 2 ...
  19. The station building was completed yesterday, just in time to catch the evening Based on photographs of Stamford Bridge railway station and inspired by Peter Goss’s Etton (Railway Modeller November 2001) The inspiration for the Signal Box came from drawings of Cottingham South by PA Brown (Railway Modeller June 1973! ) Next; the Goods Warehouses
  20. The Signal Box Is finished and looks at home sat between the down line and the coal siding. Based on Cottingham South on the Hull to Beverley line, it is reduced in length to suit the location The view from York Lane bridge And towards York Lane. The Engineering Dept. have blocked the line with track and cork underlay for the fiddle yard! Station Building next
  21. Whilst the signal box is progressing, diagonal platform fencing has been erected courtesy of Slaters. And the loading bay yard now has a cobblestone surface laid by Metcalfe & Co; just waiting for a llittle weathering and some weeds
  22. The scratch building in card of the Station Building, Signal Box and Goods. The coal office has been completed The oriental blue door and tangerine enamel sign places the layout in BR(NE) territory.
  23. Willerby (East Yorks) c1980 lies on an imaginary Hull to York line running via Hessle North, Walkington, Bishop Burton and the once busy Market Weighton; having joined the Beverley to York line near Kiplingcotes. The Hull and Barnsley line through Willerby has closed some years earlier. A single line beyond Willerby , it and the Beverley to York line, have survived the Beeching cuts. Whilst there is a sparse DMU service, most go via Beverley, the line serves a quarry and Willerby cement works at Great Gutter Lane. It also provides an alternative route for goods traffic between the yards at Hull and York. Built on two 4’ x 16” baseboards + 3’ 6” fiddle yard. The track work is in place, most of it ballasted. A low relief factory backscene , platform and road bridges are also in place.
