As Bob Barbour was the Town Clark and my mothers father Sam Wright was the Burgh Chamberlain. Borthwick Bank Unfortunately the fence got in the way at Tweedbank Here is the other one which was more accessible I can send the files. the first two are frames from a video

You never know when Heriot or Fountainhall might need duel carriage ways to access them so they are obviously playing it safe and making the new bridges wide enough just in case. Nice to know they are spending our money wisely. If the railway is unsuccessful they can always turn in into a single track road with passing places so no danger of any money being wasted on railways for unimportant people.

Not Mansfield road. This is passing Stonefield, Galalaw in the background, the Wellogate cemetery on the right. The Chimney belonged to John Turnbull and Sons in Slitrig crescent, a colleague of mine turned up at his desk one morning to find a brick from the chimney sitting on his seat with a suitable hole in the roof above, it was demolished shortly after. -

Sorry to dissagree but this photo must have been taken from Waverly Terrace. Because when I look out of my bedroom window I get almost the same view. I suspect No14/2 -
I wonder if the smoke deflectors will be relocated to a central position for the new single track line

It should not be that difficult to fit the railway in the major problem would be just beyond the station the bypass would need to be moved further south to allow the railway to fit where the road now is. This would cut off the entrance into Melrose from the bypass this would need to be to moved to the other side of the road. All of which means demolishing a couple of building on the south side of the bypass -

http://nae.net.au/projects/united-kingdom/lochinvar/ More info on the development of the canonbie coal field. The coal board spent quite a bit of time and money looking at the same project, the econonmic may have changed since then. -
I think you could include a parcel bay by making the other platforms shorter and more curved. i wanted to avoid too severe a curve. I think there is still some scope for development i used anyrail and peco code 75. Diagramme added 31 08 2012 I have a particular interest in the centre road design so here is an other version. The centre road now acts as a parking place for the station pilot enabling platform 4 departures and 1, 2 of 3 arrivals at the same time.

This develops the idea the y point Theme bit further. In and gets away from to many straigth lines. The reverse curves are challenging to be rid off Plattform 3 and 4 are most affected .

One of these building is still there. I think it was at one time a part of the Laidlaw and Fairgrieves mill. This had previously been Patersons Mill. The new Building is the Comet store The skinworks is now B&Q -

Referance is made to Baroness Elliot. One of the reasons the schools and other facilites in the Borders were in such a poor state of repair was that the the noble lady and her ilk saw it as their duty to avoid spending public money in the Borders. This may have been why our local general hospital was untill the early 1980's a ramshackle series of huts built during the Great War in the middle of nowhere.
