  1. Wilkinson Wagon Works, Workington, Cumberland. Cumbrian Railways Collection
  2. Try these: - https://cspmodels.com/abante/index.php?rt=product/product&manufacturer_id=23&product_id=327
  3. Mike Being in the middle of sorting out transfers, with another firm, I suggest that you just make one master, as a large size file and let the printer sort from there. Bit like sending a photograph for printing. The larger the better, as they can always take away but not add. Whatever you do, do not use the word 'sheet'. I asked for an A5 one of 4mm crests and was quoted over £300. But then the number printed would have lasted the average modeller two lieftimes! Much easier to say "I need enough for six coaches with a spare or two". You will then just be charged for what you need without ending up with a drawer full. You can always get more printed when you need. Happy modelling
  4. Mike Did I send you a copy of the article about M&CR transfers? Just had a quick look for it but not where I thought it was! I'm busy sorting out printing of Furness Railway transfers at present and the M&CR ones are next on my list. I've heard good things about Railtec and they are on my list to contact. My problem initially would be getting the masters drawn up ready for them to print, hevaing read through their adive, specification pages! Philip
  5. Mike Just a taster of what your train could look like! Philip
  6. Mike For some reason my 'follow' disappeared for your site so I have missed out on your progress, until you mentioned me in a posting and up 'pinged' a message! Great that you have joined the CRA. Have you joined the chat groups now you are a member? Make certain you get copies of our Journals that have articles on M&CR items in. We have had locomotives and carriages in recent years. At present the only transfers are for Goods stock. Getting them produced for other rolling stock is on my 'to do' list. Some years ago I had everything sorted, with a manufacturer of transfers, but then he just went off the grid and I could not get back in touch with him. The person who needs to send me contact details of a new producer keeps failing to send me a link. I'll give him another nudge. I've not done any work in sorting out buffers for coaches but do have access to a manufacturer. CRA is building up information about carriages but it is slow going. 1st draft pow370 MARYPORT & CARLISLE 1 12Jun13.pdf
  7. Mike Not certain if you made a concious decision to do it but recent photographs with plain background are so much better than those that some other people post. Makes the image so clean and easy to see the detail and bits you are commenting on. Keep up the good work and Happy modelling Philip
  8. I use Facebbok but the ony correct information they hold is my name. Everything else is false. There is nothing to ensure the information you submit is accurate so I can browse to my hearts content. Just being very careful if I do decide to comment on a site.
  9. I'll be very interested to read it! I got my copy yesterday and just flicked through it. 120 x A5 pages =60 x A4 of a CRA publication but with bigger images, oh how I do like them, there are quite a lot of things I'd of liked to have seen included to be of help to us modellers. Larger print for my old eyes being one. Some colour. Oh sorry you are the person doing the review not me, sorry. Not certain when/if I'll ever find the time to read it from cover to cover.
  10. So is this the tank you are building? If yes then I'll ask a few questions of the person that knows a bit about them and available drawings. May take a few days to get the answer though! Philip
  11. This is how the bunker looks on the original built model.
  12. Ah, that black tender is just begging for a rivet counter to come along!
  13. Hope you got full measurements of the hopper wagon so that you can build a model of one?
  14. The website is working fully now. If using a smart device when you click on the area you want, unlike a computer or laptop which takes you to where you want, you have to scroll down the page to select your item to look at. Coming soon in a box to you LSWR C14. The Rolls Royce of kits. Philip
  15. Happy to be of help. You mention the word 'etch' in one post. Are you intending to get brass etches made? If yes there may be either, help with funding to make them available to the few of us that model M&CR or, it could cover full cost of films and etches if that route may suit you better. Perhaps discuss offline?
  16. I've searched the CRA photo database and there is only one entry that may be Carnforth! 1079 M00633.jpg Miscellaneous M00633.jpg Carnforth ? Furness Railway Ulverston & Lancaster Railway 1900s 1900s FR 0-4-0ST No 4 shunts, FR ? cattle wagons on left When I get a chance I'll look up the image and ask 'the experts' (crchat group) if they think it is Carnforth.
  17. Well the old grey cells are having to work very hard at the moment. I'm positive that this layout attended Workington MRE back in 1983, I think it was. Unfortunately I had hoped it would have the models as shown in the article but they belonged to one member and as he did not attend the show the models didn't either. It was lightweight DMU's and other 'modern' stock that ran in West Cumbria on display. They did not tell me that when I booked it. Somewhere I should have a record of the show but where I do not know. Five house moves ago now and I still can't find things. The show was my first attempt at long distance organisation. I had moved and lived 300 miles away but as the Exhibition Manager I had to see it through! Lots of 'learning' events with the first three shows I ran in Workington. First show, Derwent Railway Society told me the size of their layout, but forgot to include the fiddle yard. Ended up with only four feet width for the public to access/leave the room. At least me managed to get everything in! 40+ years down the line, lost track of how many shows I've organised between Basingstoke and Carlisle and I'm still learning!
  18. Sorry, these are images of the last remaining M&CR coach. Taken at Chasewater Valley Railway. Copyright Ron Allison. Last we heard coach was in need of major restoration, again, having stood outside for many years without regular attention.
  19. You can see the Shillcock/Pochin models here: https://cumbrianrailways.zenfolio.com/p432956309 Check out two other folders with coaches and wagons in same collection.
  20. Bummer. I've already been working on filling that weekend, with visits to other events, that clashed in October and were looking at changing dates to allow me to attend. Lets hope you manage to get an early decision. For those mooting a one day show. Big layout owners are not prepared to attend due to the time and effort of moving and setting up the layout etc. A relaxing Saturday evening is a must before having to dismantle, travel home then unload and decide when to put the layout back up, if nesessary. Traders need to remember that attending a show is advertising your wares. The web is not the be all and end all. If you can survive with just online sales then great but you will eventually need new customers and you have to draw them in somehow. One shop attended a show for the first, time just 30 miles from there base and were mobbed for the following two weeks as so many people did not know they existed. They had regular adverts in the model magazines but for the 'general' enthusiast that is not always enough.
  21. Hmm. There's nobody I worked with that I think I'd let near my layout! I hope the rest of the people you worked with weren't all like him! I must admit he did seem full of himself. It was very much 'look at what I can do' as if he was the only person that had ever done it. He also wanted to put them up on the big screen. Pleased in some respects that it failed.
  22. Yes. it really needs editing. It was the guys first attempt at making moving recordings. Does give a different aspect, especially of the operator! Feedback about your layout has been fantastic from lots of people. You have made a big impression on so many of them, as the did the exhibition in general. The problem now is trying to do as well next year with visiting layouts, which is not going to be easy.
