  1. Hi Chris, Up to the mid 80's I guess - example here Also, occasionally used to store the class 06 but this practice stopped when the replacement 08 was tripped over from Thornton Yard. Bruce
  2. Afternoon all, Crossfell5, many thanks for posting the pic of CRM, a nice touch. I've posted a couple of 47 461 in the past - here's another, with a final thanks to Cliff and my weans. 47461 approaches Lochmuir summit with an evening Aberdeen to Edinburgh service. July 1988 Some depot pics, in no particular order. Haymarket - March/April 1982 (must tie down the exact date) Eastfield - 37 150 in Sept 1984 Inside Dundee Tay Bridge - 47 342 in October 1981 View of Millerhill in March/April 1982 View of Fort William - with 37 039 and 37 192 on shed. August 1983 Inverness - 26 034 with MacDonald the fuel man. September 1983 Grangemouth - 20193 and sister in Feb 1987 Cheers, Bruce
  3. I hope all RMwebbers had a very enjoyable Xmas and received all they hoped for. For my part, my kids completely surprised their old man by giving him one of the Rails l/e Bachmann 47/4's 47461 in Scotrail livery - and what a lovely loco it is. . Thanks also to CliffW for his part in the subterfuge!! So, I had a quick look through my 47 pics and here's some 47/0's for your approval (there's logic in there somewhere ) Firstly, 47206 passes Linlithgow in charge of an extra Inverness to Edinburgh express. July 1983 47 177 at Millerhill depot with 40 023 'Lancastria' in the background 47238 leads 47712 with the 14.30 Perth to Millerhill goods past Lindores Loch in north Fife. April 1986 47 207 passes Markinch with 09.50 Edinburgh to Inverness in April 1980. In the background 06 008 shunts the yard; the signalman has been sharp in returning the arm. Enjoy the rest of the holiday - for my part I've got a 47/4 to run in!! Bruce
  4. Thanks for the quick responses Phil and Flood. I dont remember seeing this train advertised at the time and the Wiki article does not quote when the service started so quite possibly a private charter. As for the SRPS excursion, Phil 37027 and 37033 arrive at Markinch with an SRPS Edinburgh to Kyle excursion. June 1983 I still remember the acceleration the pair of 37's delivered on what was a decent load (10 bogies) and on the 1 in 102 up to Lochmuir. A good excuse for the modeller however (if you're not overly picky about the details ) to run teak and Staniers with the mk1's. Bruce
  5. According to class47.co.uk it was an Immingham loco at this time but had been allocated to Stratford some 2 years previously so the silver roof may well have been a legacy from it's SF days. ##### "Fantastic great to see rail blue west coast shots very good was part of the film shot on the line to Stranrier ?" Not sure if this was aimed at me lmsforever, but if it was and was referring to my West Scotland vid then there were scenes at Ayr and Gatehead - the class 47 was Stranraer bound AFAIR. Unfortunately, never made the opportunity to explore more of this line. ##### Next, a pic which will both keep Phil happy with the coaching stock variety and hopefully answer a long time question which I have had - what exactly was this working????? The loco is a UID named 47 - number is 47 4xx - but the coaching stock is an eclectic mix. The location is just north of Markinch on the Edinburgh to Dundee line - the train is working south - and the date is 17th June 1983. Finally, a random image - and why not.. 27 023 arrives at Dundee TB with the 09.17 service from Edinburgh. August 1982. Thanks in advance for any help, Bruce
  6. Some 47 variety Bog standard corporate blue 47 520 accelerates away from Haymarket with the 14.55 Edinburgh to Aberdeen express. Feb 1981 47458 storms past the closed box at Lochmuir with the 14.05 Birmingham NS to Aberdeen. July 1980 Is it just me or does the buffer beam red look like slapped on lipstick? Just me then.... Half way house 47 604 passes Kennethmont box with the 10.25 Inverness to Aberdeen. June 1986 Plateless Scotrail Prior to naming and looking well fit, 47 714 is given a hurl on an Aberdeen service. March 1985 Sassenach in green 47 484 passes Carmont with a up service Bruce
  7. Virtually nothing running up here today though a nigh on 50 year old design showed how its done over the weekend. Some suggestions for Scotrail for future design pointers so that we can restore the old 'at least the trains are running' maxim. Firstly, 253024 leans into the curve at Ladybank with the 10.30 Aberdeen to Kings Cross Jan 1984. The leading PC has some form of headboard on it but I cant make it out from the original - over to you... These guys are also still around, too 47 462 passes Blackford in charge of the 11.00 Inverness to Euston (Up Clansman) Dec86 47 416 passes Markinch with the late running 22.50 Kings Cross to Aberdeen 'The Nightrider'. Jan 84 Note the windswept staff member on the LHS clearing the platform - thats what I call dedication. Finally, also at Markinch 27 054 arriving with 11.20 (Suns) Edinburgh to Dundee service. Jan 1986 Just a thought, but maybe the stock employed should be suitable for all the prevailing enviromental conditions? Bruce PS cliping - usually punishable by a scud roond the lug
  8. "A Group RMweb pint" - now that has a certain ring to it. You should have introduced yourself Stuart - I would certainly have recognised 'Brush47337'. As an aside, why 47 337? - the 47/3's were not particularily common around ScR. Bruce
  9. Stuart, Perfect qualifications and very evocative which is surely all that matters. Judging by the stock, 47 040 may also be in charge of an Inverness service (the 12:30 arrived at GQS at c 16:30) or if the rake is short (I can't tell from the pic) a Dundee service. Great pic of LDS - I was lucky enough to cab this loco from Carstairs to Waverley one winter night in 1981. Fantastic times. Cheers, Bruce
  10. Hi Simon,

Good to have met you at Falkirk and to see the layout - pity about the weather tho. Thanks for the link - it was the same guy I was thinking about - a fantastic collection. Happy to speak with your video contact.

    All the best, Bruce

  11. Hi Peter, Your guess is spot on. For a short time the Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy service changed from class 101 to loco hauled (at about the same time as the longer Edinburgh to Dundee service mostly changed from loco to dmu???!!!). The shot shows a Dundee to Ed dmu leaving as the 26 arrives - you can hear the announcer (in broad Fife) stating that the train terminates. The train then ran forward into the down loop where the 27 was coupled on. On my 27 video you can see the 27 running back over the crossover to form an up service. That period from 81 to 87ish when a fair chunk of the local trains in Fife were loco hauled were great days - I'm just sorry that I didnt have the video earlier to catch some more of the variety. Bruce
  12. Vid posted on Youtube centred on the southern part of Fife. Mostly 1985-1987. Amongst others, shows class 37 on SRPS excursion; 26's on the Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy run and 20's on the mgr workings out of Westfield and along the Forth at Torryburn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK19Iw4hv9E Bruce
  13. Latest vid. West Highland Mallaig extension - class 37/4's on passenger and mixed workings at various locations, finishing with K1 2005 leaving Glenfinnan with the Jacobite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkjw7kssXoU Enjoy Bruce
  14. One for the weegies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvi9_aveuAo An area of the country I'm ashamed to say that I paid too little attention to. Some pics too - both taken near Ayr depot. 25 157 powers a NPCCS past the depot 27 207 puts in train heating to good use on an mgr. Bruce
  15. Jim, Ernie is probably THE man for pics of ScR - I believe he uses the moniker of IrishSwissErnie around these parts - (apologies Ernie if I've got this wrong!!). I've a couple of pics of the Aberdeen Inverness line in my gallery, more in my collection if you have any specific requests and plan to do a vid of each area in due course. Can't help with the Lima 101 query though - family had all but ended my excursions by this time! Thanks to all for the kind remarks re the vids - they are a pleasure to edit (but a mega pain to upload). More planned tho.... Bruce
  16. Finally, at the umpteenth attempt, managed to get a vid about Edinburgh and area to upload to YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz3uevIaFj0 Bruce
  17. Re Dundee TB As John says, the railway has rapidly contracted at Dundee though I've always felt Tay Bridge would make a good model if a convincing scenic break on the western end could be devised. Some of my shots. Dundee Central box snapped from a GQS to Dundee stopper. The impressive box at Camperdown View looking over the goods yard to Central box. Station is off to left and former depot, Esplanade station and bridge off to right. A 37 shunts the yard. Bruce
  18. Another vid on Youtube. In a change to the published schedule its some scenes on the WHL from 85 to 88. (ish) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Scp5fCM7NHI Hope you enjoy. Next, will be what I've got left of the Edinburgh and surrounding area. As a wee testimony to John's (sulzer27jd) skills, compare and contrast... John's to Admittedly, my shot was taken in the relative glamour of Markinch as opposed to the layouts setting of Kirkcaldy but impressive modelling nonetheless. Also, some great pics posted recently - keep em coming! Anyone got shots of Kirkcaldy harbour branch???? Bruce
  19. Brian, that Barclay pug is simply outstanding and the 27/2 looks like it will match it. Great work. Bruce
  20. Thanks again, guys. Some 26 and 27's from me. Suspect that this was taken on a Sunday when the departure times of the Dundee and GQS services was fairly coincident - and a race inevitably ensued. Here 27004 has got the jump on the 47/7 out of Haymarket - by Saughton however the 'gemme wis a bogie' as they say. March 1982 26's were the first choice for the loco hauled replacements to Dundee. Here 26 013 passes Haymarket depot. March 1982 27 056 with it's go faster stripe at IS. March 1984 27 021 is about to expire on a morning Ed-Dundee service at Markinch. March 1982 again (good month that...) Bruce
  21. Dave, the doubleheader was on the occasion of the SRPS Farewell excursion - it ran via Stirling (clip in my Perth-Stirling vid)to Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen and back to base via Fife. As you say, doubleheaded 27's were rare on normal service trains although I do have a shot of a 26+27 combo on a Dundee-Edinburgh service. Amazingly the 27 was DIT!! Most of the vids south of Kirkcaldy were taken in the short period when the Kirkcaldy service was loco hauled (although the longer Dundee service was worked by first gen MU stock!) Peter, I did consider compiling some dvd's of pics and vids and selling via you-know-where bay. However, I felt that the quality of the early Video8 material was a bit suspect (the sound was decent tho). I've got enough material for a few more vids but its deciding whether to focus by geography or just a few mish-mash jobs. AP was one of the reasons I decided to do DCC+sound so will make the effort to pop over to Falkirk and see it. Now - away to have a nose at the Heljan thread... Bruce
  22. Thanks guys. Now, a labour of love!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7t3kkAV7BU No bandwidth filter used - I wanted to hear every burble of the 6LDA28-B and every sizzle of the traction motors. Hope you enjoy. Bruce
  23. Short vid taken on the Kyle line over a weekend in June 1986. The combination of the weather, scenery and general ambience made this one of those unforgettable experiences - those who are familar with the line will know what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3wmZnIwiOc Several stills in my gallery from the same weekend. Working on one about class 27's and then I'll cobble together whatever is left on Waverley for Dave. Enough for a few more after that. Bruce
  24. Some forties. Firstly a rare sight - celeb green 106 at Perth in October 1980 Forfar branch farewell, 40 143 passes Alyth Junction. June 1982 37 010 on an outbound cement looks on as 40 168 runs into Millerhill yard. Oct 1980. Finally, 40 067 hammers out of Aberdeen with the 13.40 to GQS. Bruce
  25. A wee dram, George O'Hara's book and footie on the telly. Who said men couldnt multitask...
