Firstly, hello all! Incredibly long time lurker, just this minute joined, as I’m just about to drop the heavy end of £600 on a just a few Accurascale Tipplers! So, firstly, may I say an official ‘hello’ to anyone who reads this, and I look forward to getting to know some of you a lot better in the future; )
However... As expected, my first question is directed to Fran
Fran,
Firstly, I gotta say it’s great to have the manufacturer so active on RMWEB, not only joining in the discussion, regarding all of our personal passion for your frankly stunning RTR PTA Tipplers and all that is the subtle beauty of our favourite BR Wagons! All, sadly much more prevalent on our railways, when I was a lad, than they are now!
Anyway.... As you will have gathered, I’m extremely interested in a rather healthy order of 20 x Tipplers... One set of outers and 3 inners.. I am looking at the earlier Grey, with orange end, as it fits right into my era and many did I see on the Hunterston & Ravenscraig journey...
Which brings me onto your cad drawings and the slightly blue/grey, also pointed out one page back by ‘John’. I can’t help but notice that the colour of grey seems to be more of a ‘teal’, rather than the dark grey (almost black), I remember from my many days trainspotting, as a young man?
Now I realise these are only the initial cad drawings and the shape was probably the main reason for said drawings? However... In my many years as a spotter, this was not a colour I ever saw? Actually, the colour I saw on a regular basis, was a much darker grey, much more akin to the grey which is featured on the ‘typical train formation diagram’ you have posted a couple of times, within this thread. The one showing the very ambitious, yet something that all being well, I will end up modelling ‘Triple headed 37 train’...
So, I guess my question is simple on the surface? Will the grey be the grey I remember as a kid, going into young adulthood? Or is the CAD drawing on your website an accurate representation of the way you are going , with the grey? Funnily enough, my small posse of fellow trainspotters and I, actually nicknamed the wagons as ‘Duracells’, mainly owing to the stark contrast between the dark, almost black grey and quirky orange end?
Also, the wagons were exactly the same as the ones you are producing, with absolutely no markings at all, apart from the ones shown in your cad designs. With always one fully dark grey wagon nearest to the Loco(s]
Just thought I’d check before the wife divorces me is all Fran! I will undoubtedly tell her that it was a 2 for one wagon special day anyhow ; )
Thanks again Fran! Look forward to hearing from you..
Best Wishes,
Coop
