  1. Wow! That's like an inverted L2 D30. Where is that?
  2. Thanks Matthew! I'm currently on the hunt for unusual finds on google earth so if anything pops up i'll post! Kind regards, Felix
  3. I did come across this 132kv L3 line and then saw this D90 tower Never seen an D90 tower running on this voltage It looks just like an L2 D90 unsurprisingly and so was wondering if the same D90 design is used for both L2 and L3?
  4. I believe that line starts with a few regular L2 towers including a normal D60 an then it switches to the hybrids. Its a shame there are not more hybrids.
  5. I love its wide base! Is that imagery from google maps by any chance?
  6. Is the one on the M11, in woodford by any chance. I know of that one too
  7. Thanks! Will deffo check those locations out in a bit! Funnily enough came across the hybrid L2's last week, I wonder what an L2c d90 would look like?? I know the one by the M25 which is north of the crossing in Essex, I think it routes the northern L2 line into Warley Substation.
  8. Ahh I see! It looks a BICC D30 at a lopsided angle
  9. Ooh never seen one of those before!! Looks like the crossarms are slightly closer together, Good find! Also is that an L6 BB D30 in the far distance??
  10. Thanks, that makes sense to use terminal towers! Shame about that D90 L2! So far I only know of 3 in the UK, so I am hunting to find more. I'll check out those L8DT90 towers as i've never heard of them Also is it me or are L7 pylons a miniature version of the L6, and are L4M's a smaller version L12? Kind regards, Felix
  11. Sounds like a great read! Especially I have limited reading resources and guides on pylons here. Which is a shame as it'd be great to read about the L2's construction in the mid 50s and L6's in the 60s and issues they faced.
  12. That makes sense, it would be interesting to see what an L8 one looks like and maybe and L12 too! Kind regards, Felix
  13. Ahh, I think I've followed those ones on google earth. They do stand out nicely indeed!
  14. Ahh, will check it out!! I wondered why i'd never seen one before. Is there an L8 equivalent of the D40EC? Kind regards, Felix
  15. Yes indeed! Thanks for all the info! I've seen quite a few lines that are a mix between L2 and L8 but rarely seen different variants of L6's together or L6's and L9's on the same line. I find it interesting to try and visualise a replacement tower being installed!!
  16. Yeh those are the ones! Found this rather unusual L3 Deviation tower that has a wider base and the crossarms are closer together
  17. Yeh there would be no point in doing that. I've seen a 132kv line near Heathrow which includes two rather out of place L2 towers. Kind regards, Felix
  18. Wow, that's really interesting. I didn't know that they could link the line together through different designs. Kind regards Felix
  19. Yeah I get you! It can be fun not knowing : )
  20. Never seen this before. L6 JL going to BB.
  21. Beasts!!! I like how one has twin conductors and the other quad conductors. The first L6's I ever encountered were BB's so that makes them significant. It would be interesting to know which L6 was the eldest. I think the BICC and BB were the earliest and then the other two were later. I could be wrong though. Here is the other BICC D90 I mentioned earlier at Baitings reservoir (with quad conductors). Kind regards, Felix
  22. Thanks!, having watched it after you sent those diagrams, I definitely recognised it as a BICC line. Do you have favourite L6 design? I'd say mine is the JL variant! Kind regards, Felix
  23. Cheers will check it out! The images look like they were from the 70s, which is really cool as it was when the L6's were fairly new. Here is an interesting composition of L2 towers including what looks like a terminal tower but being used as a D10 tower weirdly Kind regards, Felix
  24. Wow! That must be an L6 B.I.C.C D90 tower, love their uneven arms. I believe there is another one at Baitings Reservoir up north and a pair of them down in Lydd near Dungeness. Where was that may I ask? The photos look quite dated as well! If you like L6's yourself, check out this video I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUowNWSk4uU
  25. No worries mate! L6's are beasts so I can understand where u r coming from! I prefer deviation towers especially D90's
