  1. Am I correct in saying that L3 came after L2?? I know L2 was the 1950s and L6 the 1960s and so on but never had any confirmed info on the L3's
  2. That's brilliant!! Thanks a lot. Sorry if I have a lot of questions, its probably because i've had 12 years of questions and never found a place with other people who share the same interest!! Kind regards, Felix
  3. Ahh, that makes sense, thank you. I only knew that L8 replaced L2 and L12 replaced L6. Interestingly I saw a diagram of the four L6 types but haven't found it recently so that'll help me see which type is which. I only thought L6 carried 400kv because of the quad conductors. I swear there are only two L66 lines left
  4. Something that has always puzzled me is the voltage carried by L2 lines. Is it 275kv or 400kv?? I know L6 carries 400kv and L3 carries 275kv but I always thought that L2 couldn't carry 400,000 volts
  5. Hello Matthew, I never knew about those PL1s. Will check it out soon, hopefully the high speed rail projects don't take more away. A couple of weeks ago I went to Tilbury where 3 different L2 lines meet and terminate with single arm pylons and low height ones and a few out of place L6's. It can be quite hard to work out where each line ends.
  6. Thanks for the extra info! The line runs between Biggin Hill and just south of Ebbsfleet (quite pylon heavy with L2's and L6's) and includes some unusual set ups. Best regards, Felix
  7. Ahh thank you!! I've only seen them near substations/end of the line. There is another example where they split the line to low height towers near Biggin Hill Airport.
  8. It looks like a D30, but has squared off arms unlike the normal one, so was wondering if it was rare as I haven't seen many of them before
