Hi Dave ,
Great pics as ever ! With regards to speakers in Sulzers - I have recently removed my circular speakers from under the roof fan and replaced them with a 20 x 40 in the fuel tanks - the sound is ' awsome '. I saw a demo from ' Charlie ' ( DC kits ) at Glasgow and set about doing the same as soon as I got home. I have now converted 1 - CL26 and 2 - CL27's. As my layout is stored in the loft I have had to reduce the sound down from 80 to 50.

Just gone and recieved two Howes decoders. Gone and got the B1 fitted. was running and sounding great on my friends layout. Will have to get video soon!
Hi David,
I have had my Howes V4 Loksound in my Hornby B1 for some time now and although my fleet consists of mostly diesels I was advised by a colleague that their's was the best sound. It sounds really good but when running on my layout I'm not so sure what the various sounds should be doing and at when at the different speeds etc. I would be interested in seeing your vid when you get round to it.

Hi Peter,
I have only just caught up with your thread - was sorry to hear about the problems with your health. I had the opportunity to speak to you when you were showing at Bonnybridge last year. Glad to hear your on the mend.

What a great job you are making - and in 2mm ! You seem to have captured the feel of the area really well. ' Keep it Blue ' - Steam for Sunday's !

Hi Pete,
Wish I had noticed this earlier ! Here is my take on the ' cassette ' as used on ' Kinlochewe '. Not my own idea - it came from my colleague Greig ' Poulton-le-Fylde '. The construction uses 12mm mdf as the base with 7mm sides - glued + screwed. A piece of plastic beading is fixed on each side and at each end - leaving enough of a gap to insert a 60 thou plasticard end plate.
The power is transferred to each cassette via sections of brass rod + tubing, which is soldered to 4 brass screws embedded in the end of each base. The power then passed to the track from the screw via a short length of wire.
I have four cassettes at 4ft and two smaller ones at 2ft. I have been using them at my last 2 exhibitions and they always cause quite a bit of attention.
For my next layout I intend to replace the mdf with 'Gilflex' cable trunking - as it will be lighter.
Hope this helps.

Hi Wayne,
Will look forward to seeing how your layout develops - have several 26's and 27's myself - all fitted with sound. Certainly a basis for an interesting layout!

Hi,
I have an end to end exhibition layout and have fitted track to a short piece of wood no bigger than that of a loco! I have heard of so many disasters involving programming on the 'Main' that I would never consider it any other way.

Hi Dave,
Like the shots of your 47's - cant whack it! They look so much better in L/L. I had a good look at the 47 contenders myself and finally settled on the Vi-Trains version. Like you I have a couple of Bachmann 47's which I intend to re-paint.
I must say that's some ' train set' you've got there!

Hi Kev,
Thanks for the info - I'm trying to keep the fact that I'm lookin for a ' kettle ' quiet myself !
Bill.

Hi Bill,
Not sure which one Kev has gone for but I have Howes in mine and I am very happy with it. Decoder and speaker in the tender and just kept the set up as supplied as it is loud enough. I have heard the B1 and had a play with a 4MT tender loco again all with Howes sounds and they all impressed.
Hope the show is goin well Kev,
Thanks
Mark
Hi Mark,
Have sent you a PM. - don't want to intrude on Kev's good work !
Bill.

Hi Kev,
You may well have seen my post elswhere - I'm in hot persuit of a sound decoder for a Black Five / or B1. Just wondered how you treated yours - or did you do your own take on the Black Five!

Hi Bill,
Nice to hear from you again. They're Fox Transfers - mainly sheet F4212/1SC, their Mark 1 Scottish region set, which is ideal. Although I still had to mix and match the numbers a bit, it cut down the job of cutting out individual numbers considerably and resulted in a better alignment.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Dave,
Sorry I didn't reply earlier - thanks for the info on the Fox transfers will get down to sending off for them!

Hi Dave,
Just repeating whats already been said - some really nice pics! I especially ' warm ' to the likes of the '27' / '37' in my fav colour ! Might I ask what decals you used to re-number your blue/grey Mk 1's as I need to do the same before my next outing?
Cheers, Bill.

Hi Bill,
No problem...
The 'Mad DEMU's' plus some RMWeb members will be running trains and providing the full support crew for Mark.
I won't be - I'll be too busy in the Treaurers Office again.....
Thanks
So that's how you finance your hobby .

Hi,
Your quite right - they were dim! Might just leave well alone, like the idea of just one tail light though! ( do you think anyone would notice? ).
