i was thinking the board is a bit awkward for a switching layout but id be welcome to any inspiration!

Hi all, i've got the bug again! i dug out my 4'2 board from a failed project and im thinking about what to do with it, my thoughts as it stands are a small H0 switching layout for a continous run N scale layout all control will be dcc, my main question is how long are N scale locomotives, is it realistic to get a continuous run in such a small scale.
Thanks

im looking for any information about Ho scale military loads for my switching layout and if possible where to source kits/rtr as I cant really scratch build anything
Thanks, Joe -

You might want to contact Ian Mellors about maybe exhibiting this at the Mansfield show in 2020?
I know I'd enjoy the company of a fellow US layout!
have you got a contact number for him! Mansfield is pretty close, I went last year with no place and had a blast, thanks

What road/era are you interested in modelling? The layout could pass as quite a few areas through a number of timescales.
Late 50s Boston and Maine potentially some of the various Erie railroads

is that an invitation!
ive been trying to get the layout out there with help from club members but its difficult.
Thanks

Hi all as some of you may know Twigg street was recently sold to a new owner, I'm said new owner!
Lucky me. I'm just posting this as I'm looking for shows within an hour of Nottingham to exhibit at, it just seems wrong a layout like this sits at home on my desk not being shown off.
Most of the photos you see here are borrowed from the original post as I'm currently updating my stock list but apart from that, ill be updating this as my work on this progresses, including replacement buildings and new stock acquisitions.
Thanks
Joe

You might be better working your track plan out first, before buying your stock, as you may find stuff to big to fit, just an idea of size a GP is about 8" and 50' box cars are the same, even a 3-2-2 inglenook the head shunt needs to be 24" (GP +2x50' box cars) you may after use 40' box cars and a switcher( 6") for things to fit your 4x2 space.
I've tried to work a plan in to a 4x2 pace ,never found anything I was happy with, good luck trying!
Ray
Hi Ray Im im probably going to use this plan and im probably looking more towards a smaller switcher, but I do like the look of the gp-38-2 so I would like one to shuttle around, im looking more towards an sw1500 or GE 70T with 40' boxcars
thanks,

Kato would be my recommendation.
What are you after, DC, DCC, Sound, etc?
im looking for atleast DCC and maybe sound if its in the budget.
as im building a small 4'2' switching layout as my first build id like sound to provide a little more entertainment

As the title suggests im looking at picking up a GP-38-2 in HO scale, ive got around £175 to spend but would like some in the kitty for freight cars, thanks in advance for any advice,
