  1. OK, help me out here. Is 3504 split off from the other two units or do my eyes deceive me?

  3. https://www.laser-creation.net While I’m not very knowledgeable on all building offerings, I do know there are buildings made only for the Swiss market by major companies. Some digging on websites might find them.
  4. Back issues and subscription on their way. David
  5. My original email some time ago did go unanswered. I tried a few days ago and received a prompt reply. I also found out that back issues are available. Miraculously, international subscriptions are the same price as continental subscriptions. They even bill you when they send the first issue. Downside for a US resident is paying with bank transfers. Those are relatively uncommon here and expensive; darned near impossible to do an international transfer. I have found that PayPal offers a bank transfer service. And for the uninitiated: try a copy of the magazine.
  6. Do any group members subscribe to or purchase this magazine? I’ve bought it from Bahnorama in Bern, both in shop and via online shop. I missed a few issues and am trying to find them with reasonable postage to the US. Can anyone recommend shops that carry the magazine? An emailed request to the publisher for a subscription to the US went unanswered. Perhaps I’ll try again. It would be nice if there was an English language version, or if a translation was included as Voie Libre did before printing an international edition. David
  7. Before jumping the gun on the USPS, ask the sender for a picture of the package to verify the mailing address and legibility of the address. I have received packages from overseas where the label isn’t worded like the US. For instance, a Swiss address lists the street name first, address number second. Postal code is listed before the city. American mail sorters don’t like that. If the address is in place and legible, then you can gripe. No, I do not work for the USPS.
  8. I forgot one of my favorites: the MOB layout at Le Chalet restaurant in Chateau d’Oex. I have a feeling very few railroad modelers or railfans know of it’s existence. While checking out the location of the Lindt chocolate factory that dusted Olten with chocolate dust, I came across the SBB Restaurant Tannwald. There appears to be a model railroad on the premises. This information gathered by clicking on the restaurant on Google Maps.

  10. From Swissinfo.ch: “Travel is now possible between Switzerland and the European Union, EFTA countries and the United Kingdom. It is likely to be expanded to a further 18 "safe" countries from July 20. ” https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/covid-19_coronavirus--the-situation-in-switzerland/45592192
  11. I recall an issue of Continental Modeler that had an article on RhB signals. Would anyone know which issue(s) it was?
  12. There is the Om layout in Meiringen as mentioned in the Interlaken thread. This is the reincarnation of the old club layout that was next to the Interlaken West station many years ago, then moved a bit farther west in a building provided by the SBB. There is an HO layout in Good Night Inn in Brig. It models the north and south ramps of the BLS. The layout was featured in the March 2019 issue of Modellbahn Schweiz. I visited in September 2019. I had to be rather persistent in order to enter.
  13. I noticed most the WAG freight cars have headlights on the uphill end but I see they are not on during the day or rainy weather. Are the lights only for night time running on the lead car?
  14. Would this be “Gaugemaster John”? 2016 was my first holiday trip with FT. Missed 2019 (went in September) and 2020 looks iffy due to COVID. For the curious, I provided Chris a rendition of “City of New Orleans” by it’s writer, Steve Goodman. I do like the Arlo Guthrie version better. It is a small world. I met these two gentlemen on a Swiss train trip. And through these pages, I’ve found a Swiss train nut...er...Swiss rail enthusiast...that lives 30 miles from me here in the States. Back to Swiss trains....
  15. Hi, Chris. How’d you like the Steve Goodman music? David
  16. Are you referring to the Om layout that was originally next to the station? The SBB financed a nice building for it but went bust after a short time, the building becoming a beer warehouse. It is now in Meiringen. A bus driver and his son are rebuilding the layout in the second floor of a garage. I arranged a visit for our tour group in 2016. I missed that but went in 2017. The son speaks English. If in the area, I would recommend a visit. http://modellbahn-meiringen.ch
  17. You might try contacting Buhler in Interlaken. I’ve noticed HRF items in their display cases.
  18. Has anyone used these: https://www.shapeways.com/product/XMSNJEQ2Z/umbausatz-fur-fama-wagen-auf-kadee-kupplung?li=marketplace&optionId=138015336 ? Seems like a nice alternative to wrapping rubber bands around the buffers.
  19. I knew the SBB meter gauge had Golden Pass cars but the loco is a new one for me. Interesting OST layout plan. Rode the new cable car to the Murren BLS last year. Changes keep happening in Switzerland. While not in this area, the Stoosbahn was a trip. Any model railroaders willing to try that?
  20. What was the pier used for? Did they transfer goods to the lake boats?
  21. I stayed at Hotel Baren during a Ffestiniog Travel Holiday trip in December 2016. Thanks for the SBB zebra and PE pics. I’d forgotten about the freight shed at OST. This is a very enlightening thread. David
  22. Great photos. I first visited Interlaken in 1996. Things sure have changed. Any pics of the meter gauge SBB zebra or Panoramic Express cars? Looks like the BEMO stock on these has dried up.
  23. David, Can you enlighten me on the work on the BOB at the end of the airport and at Wilderswil? Google Maps isn’t up to date. David
