  1. New on my workbench today: BR Mk1 BG BR Mk1 FO I haven’t tackled a coach kit for nearly 30 years! Still I feel I didn’t make a bad job of BR standard brake van and a 16 T mineral wagon.
  2. I’m definitely up for some Br4 bogies! definitely interested in a GUV etch & roof. Not that any of these will suit for the layout I’m building for the Jubilee+1 competition thing.
  3. I know that good commercial models exist for the BR GUV and CCT but will the Masterclass kits that the 2mm SA sold become available again? Are their kits for the BR Commenwealth and B4 bogies? I’ve rediscovered my enjoyment of putting together etches.
  4. Love the Derby lightweight. just a question about your the Mk1 sides are they designed to work with the association Mk1 body carcass and under frame?
  5. Wow these look amazing. As a 2mm scale modeller who’s starting out with a Mk1 BG, I’ll be looking for more Mk1 coaching stock to build. Will I be able tobuy some etches?
  6. Thanks for that, I get anxious making telephone calls, I feel better about calling him now. The issue is now, what’s kits to order, there are so many to choose from.
  7. Hi, being some what new to 2mm modelling... can anyone tell me if Stephen Harris still offer his range of etches? what sort of turnaround for orders is there? Just can’t believe how much I’m enjoying etched kit construction after a hiatus of nearly 30 years.
  8. Thanks for the ideas and advice. I will draw it up and see if it’s possible. It’s all rather interesting.
  9. Hi, has anyone out there had any experience of using RC in 2mm finescale? The size of receiver chips and motors/batteries make it look feasible. I’m working on a BR class 04 diesel shunted from a NS etch, the cane seems roomy enough.
  10. Thank you for your kind replies. I’m pretty much set on copper clad sleepers and nickel silver rail, I really enjoy soldering. So next step 2mm Scale Association membership. Ive made a start on the 16T mineral taster kit and have followed the association video. I’m up to attaching the fold up axle boxes to the W irons. 3 on successfully, the final pinged off whilst holding in place with tweezers. No sign of the thing. Now going to add a raised edge to my work board. Big ask; has anyone got a spare axle box etch they could spare. No one would spot the missing box I think but it’s going to be niggling if you know it’s missing. The tiny size of parts is I guess part of 2mm scale modelling.
  11. Hi everyone, I’ve returned to railway modelling after a gap of several years (I modelled previously in P4). I’ve started a layout in 2mm finescale based on the docks of Liverpool in the 70s. I’ve constructed a board from foam board to fit the requirements of the 2mm Scale Association (I’ve yet to join) DJLC. I’ve built a few warehouse buildings from adapted Scale Scenes kits. I’ll share photos of work so far. I’d like to start on track construction soon. I’m torn between using the Easitrac system or constructing from scratch using copper clad strip and nickel silver track. Any opinions or ideas? I’ve got the taster 16T mineral wagon kit and intend to build the Association class 08 kit.
