  1. If all goes to plan it is hoped to have it pottering about Grosmont and perhaps up the bank for a few days this week, on banking and piloting duties next week, and into traffic for the half term.
  2. It is currently undergoing overhaul at the Flour Mill. I understand that it is expected to return upon completion.
  3. The J27 put in a couple of brief appearances on the webcam this afternoon, running under its own power for the first time since 2006.
  4. The Bluebell website has a very useful and as far as I know unique page which tells you which vehicles will be in which set on any given day, with links to each vehicle's own page: http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/pti/index.html
  5. It's a long time ago and so I can't remember exactly what the public were asked to pay for. Was it to safeguard the engine and keep it in the country as a publicly owned national treasure, or was it to do all of that and also keep it running?
  6. We could in fact have had two new ones. It cost twice as much to overhaul "Scotsman" as it did to build "Tornado."
  7. On a related subject, a new member of the fleet will be arriving tomorrow: the almost finished 92134, on a ten year 'restore and run' agreement.
  8. I suppose the best known models of 'imaginary' locomotives are the pretty little Madder Valley standard gauge Manx Peacock and Ffestiniog England, and I'm bound to say that I have always wished that somebody would do a range John Ahern-themed loco kits. Oh, for a 3D printer of my own.
  9. Mine have arrived, and they are exquisite. I'd buy all of them if I could.
  10. And indeed the A1SLT have announced plans to assemble a rake of Mk.3s, which I gather will be fitted with opening toplights.
  11. During the loco shortage of a few years ago I enjoyed a very spirited run HK to EG and back behind 178 and 323 with, I think, six on. The sparks being kicked out as we headed north through the tunnel had to be seen to be believed, as did the state of the smokebox doors on arrival at Horsted Keynes.
  12. Oh, I don't know. With a bit of judicious filing you can turn the Hornby Holden tank into a decent little engine. Rotten photo, but you get the gist.
  13. According to the Hatton's website, the first batch of Ps is expected in stock this Tuesday.
  14. I've suddenly realised something: if there was such a ban then it must have expired by now because otherwise Dapol would not be able to do a new 61XX. So maybe they will do a Terrier, although I'd be very surprised if a certain major retailer did not get there first.
  15. Details here: http://prsl.uk/final-results.asp?action=display&Id=37268
  16. I suppose it's one way of finding out how many punters are flushing the toilets while the trains are in the station.
  17. More here. Note the main objector issuing what can only be described as a threat to the members of ENPA. https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/first-phase-multi-million-pound-1306343
  18. It will be sitting there until 20:25 tonight. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R76471/2018/01/31/advanced
  19. There's a photo on Railway Modeller's FB page. See if this works for you: https://www.facebook.com/RailwayModeller/photos/a.105024046199291.4766.103363293032033/1608068205894860/?type=3&theater
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the terms of Dapol's sale of most of its original OO tools to Hornby in the Nineties was an agreement that Dapol would not produce rival versions of those models, or at least of its locos, for a set period of years. Even so, it has been two decades since the sale and I'd be very surprised if such an agreement had not lapsed by now.
  21. As someone once told me, "It is much easier to secure forgiveness than permission."
