PHDesigns etch pantograph base kit is still available. If you give him a call or email him and let him know how many you want as I think he has minimum number that you need to order. I got 6 off him last summer.

I’ve ordered 3, and some lead/tin solder paste also with 2% silver content, based on the advice of Michael Edge. The 86/0 that I’m currently working on may well end up with one. Thanks for the tips. The result will get posted on the thread in a few weeks. I’ll contact PH Designs to see if he had new run of bases, though I may end up making one out of thick plasticard to the same dimensions as the fettled Hornby bases that I have under my Sommerfeldt pans.

Nice one. I picked some fine brass tube and broaches at the Sheffield show. What solder and flux would you recommend? I’ve experimented with different solders, but always seem to get better results with boggo cored electrical solder, albeit with an acid flux on the parts first. Some of my new 86s have nickel silver front handrails that are soldered onto little pegs behind, but I have to spend a some time finishing them off with a file and emery. After removing the excess with braid. There must be a better way

One little dilemma is whether it qualifies as a micro layout or not. The scenic section is about 5 foot by 14 inches with a little fiddle yard that attaches to the side. It was designed as a little diorama for my locos to pootle around. Me having developed a bit of an addiction to loco collecting during the lockdown!

I’m a recent new member here, and also a recent returnee to model railways. Most of the layout you see here was already built and landscaped etc. before I joined RMWeb. I have some pics of its construction, but by no means an exhaustive set. Perhaps I could do a combined locos and layout thread. Just need to decide on the best location.
