  1. Welcome to ERs Tex. I did experience a brief moment of geographic dyslexia and misread Tasmania as Tanzania. Luckily I do know the difference between them. Commiserations on the work front I'D, but this might be an opportunity to develop your modelling skills and earn some cash from them at the same time.
  2. Happy birthday RM Web. Congrats,w ell done and thanks Andy
  3. Morning all. Well done on moving the filter Gordon. I can't offer you advice on the electrical front but I think that Ed is probably right in that replacing the whole thing is the way to go. Sorry to hear about your Aunt Andrew, though it sounds like quite a nice way to go. Best of luck with the knee
  4. Hi Dave, Thanks for letting us have a play with the layout today. It isn't just nice looking it also works brilliantly and it's great fun to operate
  5. We saw your rugby shirt and were debating whether it looked wasp like enough to be the one you had previously described.
  6. Sorry Jock I didn't take my camera. But thanks for calling me an accomplished photographer - do bear in mind that you lot only see the highlights (mind you some of those are rather nice even though I do say so myself). The Stationmaster did take his camera but i'm not sure it got much use. We were a bit busy playing with Bridport Town - which a very playwithable layout. Nice to renew various acquaintances and to meet Andy. I really struggle with left and right, I have a great sense of direction and rarely get lost but i'm useless at giving directions
  7. Not as far as I know. But with various naval ancestors...
  8. Around here we often have 'towards the house' and 'towards the fence' rather than left and right
  9. Actually i'm not sure my idea will work - is the gate in a frame with a bar across the top? If that is the case I think the only option will be lifting it over.
  10. Dig a tunnel under the wall and push it through? Otherwise (and presuming the filter can be lifted by person power) hire a scissors lift that will fit through the gate and raise the platform, with the filter on it, above the gate.
  11. Now there's an idea In other news my German train tickets have arrived - all present and correct
  12. Just phoned Deutsche Bahn's UK call center to book the rest of my tickets for this summer. What a delightful call center to deal with, incredibly helpful and well informed.
  13. You might say that but I went to a colleague's funeral a few months ago and the comany sanctioned wake only ended when somebody fell off their barstool. I believe the official wake (which we couldn't get into, the whole affair was standing room only) ended in similar fashion.
  14. Two foxes out courting in our garden today. No pictures as my camera was suddenly revealed to be flat.
  15. Well who would want to be married to a man with overscale asphalt? Oh the shame of it.
  16. This bit of the gardening department is gardened to a standstill. Digging the veg patch came to an earlier than anticiated halt when I found an inch-and-a-half thick tree root buried about 18 inches down. The subsequent destructive process was rather exhausting (and indeed a complete and total embuggerance - no I don't know where I got that word from but it is an excellent one). Mind you I was going to stop fairly soon anyway because of the racing. As for them as object to the existence of this bit of the forum... Nobody's forcing them to read it. Though perhaps we could go and inflict ourselves on certain other areas of RMweb for a while. I mean I've bought a couple of wagon kits, surely I don't have to actually build them to be a proper modeller?
  17. Ipswich have got off quite lightly this season, in 2010/11 (the last time we were in the same division) we beat them 4-1 and 5-1. A playoff Final derby would certainly be wild - just getting everyone there would be a massive difficulty, never mind the actual game. I really hope it doesn't come to that though. I'd like to see Bournemouth go up, it seems to be a very well run club with a nice atmopshere.
  18. I think I found the top one but it has some very tight connections. The bottom one is what I am trying to book
  19. Well the Championship is now ridiculously tight at the top, 4 teams on 66 points, Norwich on 65, Brentford on 61 and Ipswich on 61. I was very pleased that Norwich bounced back with a win today, after our rather predictable, but still pathetic, defeat against Wgan. The other results went in our favour too (thank you Birmingham). The bottom 3 look like they've had it though, all at least 8 points adrift. On the spitting thing, it is disgusting but I can't see why it carries a longer ban than potentially career ending tackles and racist abuse.
  20. Funnily enough I am also heading for Ulm. But first I shall be taking the train to Cologne, flying to Sarajevo (there are no flights from London), and taking the train to Zagreb, subsequently Nuremberg (night train from Zagreb to Munich). Then home via a couple fo nights in Ulm with a day trip to Friedrichshafen. At least I think that's everything Frankly if anyone else said they had that planned i'd tell them they were nuts. Oh well Train bookings are turning out to be a bit of an embuggerance. You can't book the sleeper on DB's website so I will have to phone them (or, as a last resort, pay Rail Europe's extortionate booking fees). The booking window for Nuremberg-Ulm opens tomorrow so that should be ok; but I am slightly scratching my head as to where to book Ulm-London as DB's website doesn't sell Thalys or TGV and the options i've found elsewhere all involve rather short connections. Oh well i'll figure it out eventually (I went to Augsburg on a school exchange trip, very nice city center and IIRC quite a decent station) We are planning to go on the Saturday Or possibly the bloke wearing a helmet
  21. My new bank card has come. And it has immediately been put to use booking the last hotel for my summer trip Now to buy some train tickets
  22. It's been very spring like here today I saw a butterfly and a bumble bee when I was out in the garden earlier.
  23. RIP boB, what a spendid looking fellow you were. I do hope things improve quickly Andrew
  24. Vid of crash at LaGardia. https://instagram.com/p/z2kcdEiNtE/ Reasonably well informed discussion http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-air-lines-skymiles/1660741-delta-md80-skidss-off-runway-lga-11-09am-est.html
  25. I've already wracked my brains with this intention but to no avail
