To be fair to Bachmann 31407 was a unique liveried loco when it was repainted Mainline Freight blue, and the silver embellishments really made it an attractive loco. Why would any manufacturer pass up the opportunity especially as IIRC Mainline Freight also repainted an engineers saloon to match.

I am hoping that Bachmann release said saloon in this livery to go with my Accurascale 31407. I have already bought the EWS saloon to go with 31466.

  2. Well, as a DC user not DCC, it seems that DCC is a headache at the best of times IF it works. Thank god I don't work at Accurascale and having to deal with people moaning. I get enough of that in my day job.

I'm just thankful I don't do DCC, as seems nore effort than what is worth.

    The "Loot"??

It was a Newspaper published 3 times a week in the north of England where you could sell stuff. it was either green, peach and another colour depending on the day it was published.

  4. "This Hornby electric locomotive," is a rebuilt Merchant Navy as far as I can make out. Though it is a model that runs on electricity, so is isn't technically lying, it depicts a steam locomotive not an electric locomotive.

These look great and have captured the 'might' of a Grid well,

Are there any samples of the EWS or Loadhaul liveried models around at all? There doesn't appear to many pictures if so,

Also for the "suggestions box" - Transrail livery would be great if there's a re-run in the future 😁

It won't let me agree to your comment, so I agree with you about Transrail and Loadhaul. Loadhaul and Mainline are two of my favourite liveries especially on a class 60.

IBG kit 72020 is the one you want for the Blackpool wrecker. It correctly represents the short-bonnet 969 model used by Blackpool whereas the Matchbox, Oxford and Langley versions are all long-bonnet 980 tank transporters.

Thank you for that. I didn't realise that Diamond T did 2 different versions of their trucks. I have to admit that I am gutted that my friend and myself never cabbed it on work experience and I never took photos of it. To elaborate, my friend did his work experience at Blackpool Transport bus depot and I did mine at the tram depot, both at rigby road.

The one used by Blackpool was a completely different type to the one in the kit.

Yeah, all the pictures I have seen of the Blackpool transport Diamond T, it had a single boom crane on the back, whereas the US Army versions had twin boom cranes on the back. I don't know if Blackpool transport had theirs specially converted? There are plenty of photo's online of it recovering trams, as well, as buses. I don't know if that had something to do with it.

Ah yes, I've got a couple of Diamond T kits stashed in the loft somewhere, and I remember them having that base- the Matchbox T-34 came with one depicting the tank driving through a wooden fence, plus an accompanying Russian soldier figure. Your railway base originally came with the Matchbox M-16 half-track

Could I ask who made the Diamond T kits please? Blackpool transport used one in the post war period well into the '90's for recovering trams and buses. It was still in the Rigby Road depot when I did my school work experience there in 1997.

    Hi all,

How long did TOPs era 08’s carry BR blue with yellow buffer beams and yellow con rods? Am I right in thinking this is an early 70’s livery as a starting point?

    thanks in advance

It's looking like the internet photo sites like flicker are your friend here, and searching for images of individual 08's, which may take a while....

Further exploration of his other items reveals this

In his description he reveals that “The loco's one connecting rod piece is broken, it is an easy repair however as-is the loco will not run.” [sic]

If it is an easy repair, why not do it?

However, the statement that further justifies awarding him the accolade of MC of the Day is …

“It has been priced accordingly for the faults.”

He wants £260 for it … wonder how much he would have wanted if it had been complete and working?!

    Steve S

Is that one of those bradford exchange models, sorry overpriced naff toys? I believe Bachmann made some stock for them way back when, in 0n30 gauge.

No one bid, they've been relisted on the same terms.

I am going to presume the description on the ebay listing, is an AI generated one. I don't see how bent carriages will make great addition to anything other than landfill

I hardly ever get on this forum these days. I need to come back as the eBay thread alone is good for one’s wellbeing!

The thread drift on here can be funny and always cheers me up as well!

Recently purchased a non DCC/Sound 37609 and went to order a sound decoder for it, but a little confused as I maybe missing something here.  When the 37/6's were originally refurbished to be used by EPS, do they need the 'refurbished' sound decoder, or 'original' decoder as I thought the 'refurbished' sound chip referred to just the 37/4's.  Any pointing me in the right direction would be most grateful.

I thought the 37?4's were identical to the 37/5's (which the EPS 37/6's were sourced from). The only difference with the 37/4's is they were fitted with an electric train supply. I may be wrong.......

So much is wrong for a mail coach...  😁

We had Hattons on the ropes yesterday, today its Rails...

    https://railsofsheffield.com/products/pre-owned-thomas-friends-murdoch-2-10-0-steam-locomotive

Hornby R9684, so its probably loco drive rather than tender drive.

    Only £1095.00

I think they do delivery free at that price...

There's a fair number of Thomas locos on offer.

    https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/pre-owned?q=thomas&sortValue=2

I think that is one of the cheaper ones I have seen. Have seen them on the bay for over £1500.
