  1. To be honest as the chip has blown looks like this is the only option to get A4 sounds back on the loco. So in the next few months when I saved for it I will buy the relevant chip with a new speaker.
  2. I think I might as well replace the entire thing really with a new speaker but not sure which speaker would fit / be the best option. Sorry I'm new to all this.
  3. Hmm issue is now Hornby won't provide sound files to program them to a new chip it will need a new 21 pin chip or convert it to an 8-pin chip just so it can be DCC controlled.
  4. the locomotive model number it is from is my A4 Sparrowhawk - R2991XS & the chip number is X6187 however Hornby don't have this anymore.
  5. Hi Sam, Thank you for the info although it is being looked at now I appreciate your post. As you are reasonably close so if I do have any issues in future with any locomotives I will bear you in mind.
  6. Hi, It is the DCC Sound model yes however before it even gets to that. All I have to do is put the tender on the track without pressing anything on the controller & it states OL on the screen.
  7. Hi, I’ve recently started with the hobby & I’ve purchased a second hand Hornby Sparrow Hawk (R2991XS) however for some reason it causes the Hornby Select to overload. I have tested another DCC locomotive & worked perfectly fine both the locomotive/ Hornby Select. Due to its age it was the only one available & otherwise it’s in good condition. Just wondering if anyone knows anywhere in the Nottingham area that is able to look into it & complete repairs? Regards, Anthony
