  1. Don't place any faith in mine Andy - it's a figment of my imagination!
  2. Moving swiftly back to railways... Here's an idea of how the hut will look in situ on the platform. There will also be a gate across the end loading bay.
  3. There's also one about Confucius and the permanence of secretaries...
  4. Really not quite sure what to make of that post, I must admit!
  5. Thanks Rob. And nothing wrong with a bit of chaos now and again 💣
  6. That seems to be a favourite corner for you Clive!
  7. Right then. Here's the (very dusty) interior with the thin corrugated iron added. And then the modified hut next to the NATO standard version. Still need to add a hasp and padlock to the door, and then it's done. A fun little project for the day 🙂
  8. Yes I think you're right. There isn't actually all that much space in there anyway, so I'm not going to put any benches in. The one I'm basing this on, Coryates Halt, was modified as a shelter to keep milk churns out of the sun, so that's my rationale.
  9. For some odd reason it's the fencing that catches my eye, as much as the autocoach. I love the way you've painted that wood!
  10. As mentioned a little while ago, I wasn't really happy with the common or garden Wills pagoda hut, so decided to kit-bash something a bit different. First, take one Wills kit. Ignore the scale rule - I don't go in for accuracy here... As you can see by the application of my "measure once, then repair the damage later" mantra. Somehow I managed to drill the first hole for the window cut-out in entirely the wrong place. Duh. A plug of plastic rod will hopefully hide that once I've sloshed some paint about. Window frame lashed up from bits of plasticard. I'll add glazing once I've done the paintwork, using the packaging from the kit and a self-adhesive paper label cut into strips for the vertical glazing bars. The additional inner wall is Wills corrugated iron, and I'll use some of their corrugated glazing material to line the rest of the exposed inner wall, as it's much thinner. I'm also thinking of adding a bench around the three inside walls of the open-fronted end of the hut, what do you think?
  11. Thanks Jay, very kind 🙂
  12. There must be a joke in there somewhere about also providing the ladder for the water tower... I'll get my coat!
  13. In all seriousness, a small offcut of silk or similar - black, of course - might do the trick?
  14. Sounds to me as if you need some slinky little silk number Phil!
  15. I have a little Gaugemaster scenic sound module under the baseboard - has sounds of cows, tractors, bird song and so on. I know those things are a bit "Marmite", but I like it!
  16. Only just found this thread. A beautifully simple layout, and cracking scenery! Looking forward to seeing how the water develops.
  17. Indeed, it's just a pale shadow of its former self!
  18. Thanks very much Andy; the tower is from the Ratio kit. I used my old favourite material, masking tape, for the bag. Rolled a small piece into a tube and then painted it. I'm pretty sure that the wheel was included in the brass fret that came with the kit. As for the weathering, that was mainly done with washes, most of them wiped away in a downward motion while still wet. Then the rust spots and streaks were added with varying shades of paint. I think it was @Harlequin who mentioned to me that the level indicator would blow in the wind, and so leave scrape marks on the tank following an arc, so I also tried to represent that.
  19. That coal stage looks very good Andy.
  20. From what I’ve seen the lead ages to quite a light shade. I could probably make mine lighter still, but am resisting the temptation to mess about with it any more.
  21. Thanks George. Must admit that I’m rather getting to like this scratch building lark 🙂
  22. A rather diplomatic description of the Holodomor, Mr W
  23. Strangely enough, I have one of those…
