  1. I've finally have a new client and new project, which has helped my general mood! After far too much time messing around in RailModeller Pro, I simply removed the point that straddled the baseboard joint and eased the curve a little more to 63cm.
  2. Page one of my notifications is working now, but page 2 is a white page. Maybe it’s a problem with the notification for a specific thread or classified?
  3. One thing that I have noticed is that it knows that I have 22 unread notifications, so I guess the problem is related to the viewing of my notifications. Not sure if that additional information helps you find the issue, as I guess that this isn't happening for everyone.
  4. Same problem with notifications here. Just a spinner on the popup and a completely blank page at https://www.rmweb.co.uk/notifications/
  5. Are you using point motors and if so how you plan to install them?
  6. As someone who lives in Worcester, from here through the Malverns over to Hereford is a pretty nice place to live and is also an area Outstanding Natural Beauty! :) I won't comment on other parts of the West Midlands, but my son is at uni in Coventry and that ring road is a quite a thing!
  7. I'm as far as page 120-something now and this post has spoiled me on the question as to what's going to happen to the blank space where the turntable was originally planned to go 😁 The first third of this thread is a fantastic testament to how incredible CR is. I am in awe of your abilities and the fantastic, helpful information provided by everyone here.
  8. I've just bought some 18 pin DCC decoders from Hattons as they are £8.50 today. Looking for a socket, I've found https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285033944327. They'll be used to convert some old locos, so I am thinking that I just solder wire to the pads as required. Does this look like the right socket for this or is there a better choice?
  9. That's a fantastic scene. Very nicely done.
  10. Another attempt at a stock box to take stuff to the club. I've discovered that being able to hold one-handed is useful for unlocking the doors when it's wet as I don't particularly want to put onto the floor.
  11. Morning all. I have just completed the audio book version of Making It So, Patrick Stewart's autobiography. I usually prefer biographies rather than autobiographies, preferably written after the person has lived so that there's more perspective, but Stewart's book was very enjoyable.
  12. I don't think that you're helping 😁 It's a very nice model though, isn't it? I also can't think of why I would want one on an 1930's SDJR railway, but…
  13. This level of experience is what I'm hoping to gain as I learn more. I don't have room for a circle of track but I do have my dad's 35+ year old locos to service and sort out. They are in various states of "running order" and I'm intending that the rolling road will help me to get them working well. I could also do with a permanent workbench…
  14. Today, I'm rearranging travel as the railway company has emailed me to confirm that I'm affected by the strikes.
  15. Hard to beat BBC Weather for restraint.
  16. Printed out full size to see how it feels and immediately spotted that I have a point over a baseboard joint. *sigh*
  17. As I'm about to start my build journey, I've started reading this thread from the beginning. Incredibly inspiring.
  18. Brackets sourced and fitted. This is a dual-use room as it's also my office (I'm self-employed and work full time from here), with Melcombe Road Sidings sitting neatly under Holcombe.
  19. Night out with a mate last night, so nursing a headache today… Hoping to complete baseboards today.
  20. Decided on latches. The baseboards are 1.2m above the floor (~4ft) and I wasn't confident that I could lift one up straight up comfortably with detachable hinges. The obvious downside is latches on the top, so will need to hide. It's a compromise that I'll live with. Next up, I need to sort out brackets for the wall to hold up the other side of the "L".
  21. Morning folks. it's -4ºC, so I'm in no hurry to go outside! Another day with an interview-type call today, so hopefully will see movement on work-stuff next week.
  22. I've been reading threads on here about joining baseboards, such as this one and this one, I have realised that I have another problem (or do I mean opportunity?!). I have 20mm space between the back of the baseboards and the wall. If I use dowels and toggle catches, then the catches at the back will need to be on the top of the baseboard and presumably I'll cover with buildings. Another idea I had was to forget dowels and use detachable hinges along these lines: I'm not sure that two of these will hold everything tight enough though.
  23. Baseboards painted! As you can see, I intend for the two main boards to rest on cabinets. The next thing to work out is how to fasten them together so that I can easily separate them to work underneath any given board. If there was room for me to get my hands underneath, I could simply use a bolt and wing nut, but that's not an option here. I'm currently thinking of metal alignment dowels in the end, such as these from Railwayscenics. with some sort of clasp on each side. I can then undo the clasps and pull the board outwards and remove. Does this sound plausible? Is there a better way?
  24. In other news, the camera is very cruel! Next time I'll embed the buildings into the floor and be much more careful when assembling!
