  1. Hi all I'm struggling to find a supplier of a shed plate 52H to affix to my Tyne Dock DJH kit I am building, also is there anybody selling loco number plates I could solder on to the loco.
  2. Hello out there, can anyone point me to a supplier of parts for for my 9F. I require a set of compressors, air receivers and any valves that come with them. Thanks
  3. Thanks for that, but what I require is a lot smaller. I have now purchased a set of allen keys (sizes typically 1.5mm 1.6mm), so going to cut them to length and use a pin drill.
  4. I could buy another set of L allen keys and cut them off, and use a pin vice hold them.
  5. Anyone know where small screwdriver allen keys can be purchased please. When using very small bolts I find the traditional L shape keys are very difficult to use. Ideally small bit type keys would be fine. Thanks
  6. Get yourself a Tesco+ debit card, it is free to use. I use it to buy say insurance, and other purchases that might do automatic renewal. Keep the card with a low balance, and just top up when you are making a purchase. That way nobody can take money out unless you have topped it up.
  7. PS I never use these barcodes for parking etc.
  8. Sorry to hear about the scam I have four rules. 1 never bank on my mobile telephone. 2 I have a separate email address for banking/financial matters. 3 I always do a history removal after using the telephone for internet searching. Same applies to my PC 4 I have Norton on my phone, if the green light does not appear in my search against a result, I do not visit. Same applies to my PC
  9. Thanks to all who sent the photographs, these are extremely helpful. I would like a photograph of the firebox/ inside the cab showing the locations of the equipment I have seen a square on photograph somewhere but can not remember where of the cab layout. (it must be an age thing)
  10. Thanks for the replies above , will build it with a single chimney, use the running number 92099
  11. Well on with my second O gauge 9F , tender done thanks to some very good photographs post on here. My next decision to be made is, was there a double chimney 9F working the Consett oar trains. If there was what was the running numbers. I have already a Tyne Dock 9F with a single chimney and would like to have a double chimney variation if there was one.
  12. Many thanks for the photographs, extremely useful
  13. I'm having a difficulty sourcing some 12 BA bolts min 15mm long brass prefered , with csk or cheese heads. Can anyone out there please help me. Alternatively M1 bolts would do. Thanks
  14. Help needed please, I'm currently building a 9F used on the Tyne Dock shed. Can anyone please supply a photograph of the positions of the various brake pipes and compressed air connections on the rear of a 9F F tender. Thanks
  15. Come up with a solution, and it appears to work well at no cost. I used a masonry nail removing the washer component. I shaped the pointed end to the size I required, cut the head off the nail, and then placed it in my small drill press. I did a couple of trial goes, then set the depth locking nut on the drill press, bingo it works. As I am building a DJH 9F, the tender (F) has a lot of rivets (about 80) to punch in the coal storage area so just took my time. As the nail is made of very hard steel, I did not get any wear on the tip. So I am happy now I can progress. Thanks all
  16. Hi all, I am looking for a riveting tool and I am considering purchasing a Mr Hobby Mr. Rivet Marking # GT70. Has anyone have any experience using one, especially on an etched brass kit please? Any suggestion on an alternative would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. I have given up in trying to find 2.3mm AF spanner. I am now using an Archimedes drill holder and it works a treat.
  18. Thanks for that, what I can not understand is retailers claiming 2.5mm is a 12BA fit. I have a 2.5mm spinner and it just revolves on the nut.
  19. Hi all Where can you purchase an O gauge rivet embossing tool please? I appears the Metal Smith no longer supply them.
  20. Hi all Why is it you cannot purchase a 12BA spinner spanner. The BA Association give the across the flats dimension as 2.3mm, but suppliers want to supply 2.5mm labelled as 12BA size? If there is anybody out there knows where I can purchase a 2.3mm spinner spanner I would be very grateful.
  21. I took the caravan to seahouse last year again for a few days and yes I agree that part of the NE coast is fantastic but cold. I have purchased two wooden fishing boat kits on ebay, the scale of the boats is fine to blend in . Be aware if you decide to do the same the boat that comes with basically coffee stirrers takes a lot of time as each plank is twisted two fold to follow the profile of the hull
  22. Just an update on my earlier posting, I am almost there. In addition to the previous issues I had to cut part of the chaise bottom plate away so I could centralise the gear with the worm of the motor. I have just one issue left, and that is the driving wheel pivot bolts (12BA) are not long enough to give clearance to the cranks. ‘Ah’ he said just use longer bolts but, I just cannot find a supplier of 12BA bolts that are a minimum of 18mm long. Can anyone help with a supplier please? Another tip is to drill the whitemetat headlights from the back and drill the body so a small piece of brass 0.7 mmcan be used to stiffen the fixing of them. The headlights on their own are weak. For those of you who are considering building the same, I would not cut to length the 3mm tube (for the jack shaft) at the length stated, wait until you are assembling the wheel sets. I will post photographs when it is completed.
  23. I have built better kits, The negatives Not all parts/materials are included, (I accept that wheels motor etc are usually an extra) you have to purchase brass tube( 50mm), couplings. The big one for me is that the wheel sets are 1/8 inch axle and the gear sets fit 3/16 axles, I was unable to find an off the shelf solution for this. I purchase 3/16 brass rod and asked a pal to turn me a bush. The instructions say that rail cow catchers ( piece of track rail) are provided not in my kit. I emailed Alphagraphics, and I am still waiting for a reply. Drawbars have to be fitted early in the assembly as once the body is soldered up there is no going back to be able to use a sprung pair. I wanted to use brass sprung buffers, but not possible as there is no space for the nuts behind the stocks. They do not even supply fixing nuts/bolts to attach the body to the chassis. As an avid builder of Connersure kits and extremely happy with JM kits Alphagraphics is nowhere near to his quality. I only purchased The Lady Armstrong kit as my layout is the North Sunderland branch.
  24. Thanks for that, I have had a senior moment . It is the air cylinders at each end.
