  1. Just run in my Earl of Merioneth. As others have said it is a beautiful model and runs very smoothly on dc even at low speed. The motor is a little noisy though, is this something anyone else has experienced?
  2. Just returned my second J27 to Rails. The first had a bent drawbar (probably fixable) but the motor was dead. Just picked up the replacement today and was in a worse state. The inner plastic tray that the loco sits on was broken allowing the loco to move around nice and freely resulting in various parts getting broken off, the drawbar was again bent and the drawbar pin snapped off. I would like to say that Rails were most apologetic and very helpful in arranging the returns, so full marks to them. This is the second Oxford loco I have had problems with, I had to return an N7 as the motor sounded like a washing machine full of bricks. Oxford do seem to be able to design excellent models for a good price but on my experience they are letting themselves down with poor quality control. I would happily pay another £5-£10 if it meant more checks to ensure the models are of better quality. Sorry if this comes over as a bit of a rant but I am a little bit miffed.
  3. First time poster here so please be gentle I am attempting to fit a Hornby R7150 decoder into a B2 Peckett but I can't work out which way up it goes. The leaflet that comes with the loco doesn't help as it shows the socket being located on the side of the motor. When I opened up the loco the socket was as shown in the photo (I've already removed the blanking plug). I have also attached a photo of the decoder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
