  1. Thanks Mick, found some fuse wire in the garage, thought the 5 amp stuff was thicker than that so hadn't even considered it. If I do find somewhere that makes loco specific brass worksplates I will let you know! Al
  2. Beautiful results once again Mick, one day I will commission and A2/2!! I was just wondering what diameter of wire you used for the wiring runs on the smokebox of the A2/2 and A2/3s? I am thinking about adding wire runs to my Peppercorn A2 but am stuck between everything looking over or underscale. On the subject of A2s, where did you get the works plate for 525? I have looked at Fox, which do Doncaster works plates but I dont think they do locomotive specifc ones, just generic. Cheers! Al
  3. Me too. If we do have to wait until Q3 I don't mind, at least by keeping us informed they are showing willing to sort it out and haven't forgotten about us.
  4. Thanks Merlin, that's a great help. Gonna put that near the top of the to do list. When my layout is built I will be working with curves of 900mm radius so will have to work out the exact measurments, but for the improvement in appearance it definitely seems to be worth it. Looking forward to seeing Windsor Lad on the fish train!
  5. Absolutely loving your layout Merlin, what an inspiration! Looking at your locos I see that your Hornby A3s and A4s are all close coupled. I am pretty pleased with the closeness of my Bachmann A2 but my 9f always seems distant from its tender as do my A3 and A4. I was wondering what your method is for close coupling both your Hornby and Bachmann models - how much surgery is required? Thanks and congratulations on an wonderful model!
  6. Having caught the railway modelling bug again after an 18 month absence (and being very pleased to have done so) I purchased the A2 Tudor Minstrel. I just want to say thank you to G-BOAF and Dan for their work on correcting the cab sloop problem. By following their work and reading the superb 'how to' guide from G-BOAF I have been able to straighten the footplate and eliminate the sloop (there is less than 0.1 mm on both sides and the cab looks far more square). I am not skilled enough to have worked this out for myself so to have a guide to be able make a massive improvement to this model is much appreciated! I now have a couple of questions regarding the LNER apple green livery. I see that micklner has painted the handrails green on AHP and I assume this is also correct for Tudor Minstrel (it is apple green but with British Railways on the tender circa 1948). However are the sandboxes supposed to be green on TM also? Using the only references I have, (which are black and white!) I can see that AHP in LNER apple green did have green sandboxes, but in a picture of 60535 Hornets Beauty in BR apple green I am sure the sandboxes are black. Does anyone have any better info on this matter before I get my paintbrushes out? Thanks, and all the best for 2012!
