  1. Fantastic, thanks for the info. I'll have to find the photo. My mother is from Kilgerran (or Cilgerran as she would insist on spelling it!) so I might have to order plates for 1613 (to replace the ones for 1666 that I already have!!) . Or just order 2 locos ...!
  2. According to the Great Western Journal No.30 Spring 1999 and Martin Connop-Price in The Whitland & Cardigan Railway (Oakwood Press), 16xx's were used on passenger services on the Cardigan branch - 1637, 1648 and 1666 were regulars with 1613 and 1628 also making appearances. Interestingly, a 16xx was usually sub-shedded at Cardigan for working the first train out. The reason that a 16xx was preferred for this service was that it was the only engine light enough to cross over the mini-turntable to be able to access the shed at Cardigan. Add in the fact that many of the passenger services ran as mixed trains and that Cardigan station occupied a very attractive riverside location, and the modelling possibilities are endless!
  3. If correct, then this is fantastic news for me! Been asking for someone to make a RTR version for ages now so my prayers have finally been answered! Will be getting a couple at least and 1648 was a Whitland engine so perfect for the 'Cardi Bach'! Will be keeping a close eye on this thread in future!
  4. Great pics, esp. the 2nd one - just spotted me and my old Dad on the platform!!!
  5. 'My' Katie arrived this afternoon. Ordered on Saturday afternoon so very quick delivery. It is quite delightful and for those who are still waiting for their version to arrive, all I can say is it is well worth the wait. Well done Hattons! Now if you can do another version called 'Daniel' that will keep all the offspring happy!!
  6. Great news abut the Western Pullman and the Quarry Hunslets in 009 too - lots to look forward to. Well done Bachmann!
  7. Les You may be interested to know that ex-Whitland & Cardigan No.1 'John Owen' was an 0-6-0ST built in 1872 by Fox, Walker and Co. Rebuilt by the GWR in c.1894, it has a passing resemblance to a 1361 tank, albeit with an open cab. It was sold by the GWR to Cornsay Colliery, Co. Durham in 1912 and was eventually scrapped in 1952 at Darlington. With a little bit of modeller's licence (Rule 1!), a 1361 would not look out of place in a Durham colliery!
  8. This looks good - looking forward to seeing how this layout develops.
  9. I lost track of time watching this layout at Warley on Sunday - first class modelling and that Class 24 on the pick up freight sounded wonderful.
  10. My local shop advised that they had received 2, which would be going to those customers who had pre-ordered them. They were not expecting any more in until February.

    Hornby Horseboxes

Nice B&W picture (no.46) of a horsebox in 'The Llangollen Line - Ruabon to Barmouth' by W.G.Rear and N.Jones taken on 10/9/1956 showing 7801 'Anthony Manor' arriving at Llangollen with the 10.20am Barmouth - Birkenhead (1M07) passenger service. The horsebox is sandwiched between the loco and the first carriage.
