  7. Re: the Grey roofs. Perhaps I should have added that my mindset is firmly entrenched in the Green era but you are, of course, right. I have a pic of a green tender at Thornaby with a light grey top in about 1967. A retired Thornaby driver told me that all the tenders he remembered were delivered new to Teeside (Fom York) in all over green but some returned following overhaul repainted with Grey tops. Now don't get me started about the Thornaby DBT's that were painted with the Fluorescant yellow WP's. P
  8. It's probably with your Brake Van thread... P
  9. 10 out of 10 for that that one Mr Delemar. Not for the 16 tonners but for the brake tender, that is one of the Ultra rare Cowlairs built examples. (3 off) They had a slightly different body shape, handrails vac pipes etc., to the rest of the "round toppers" and were turned out with diesel grey roofs. Hurrah for the Cowlairs painters as they seemed to have an individual streak. I reckon that tender could be B964036 (ex DB320922) going off the footsteps on the bogies... 11. Dependant on version... NCB Blue (Very near to C&O Enchantment Blue.)with red pinstriping, handrails, cast plates apart from builders and coupling rods. This was used in the North East area from the early seventies (possibly the late sixties?) Earlier livery was Green. You can just make out some green in the phot where somebody had nicked the builders plate. The builders plates had been promised to me! I had to make do with the locos gauges instead... 21. I wouldn’t, have thought you see any... I thought they were mainly 21t hoppers on internals; at least they were for the couple of weeks I was there in 1978. I think that new script for the NCB came in about 1976-7, followed a couple of years after by the compulsory Orange overall scheme. Must go and check my letterheads from the time… Porcy
  22. The pics I was thinking of was a Clayton on 21t hoppers heading east betwwen Hylton Road and Chester Steet East/Matamba Street. There was also a blue 08 on 16tonners taken from the same upstairs window: Then there was a blue 08 taken heading west taken from the upstairs rear window. No worries though. Must have been Ebay... P
  23. Lovely shots Alan. I assume you must have spent sometime in the upstairs of one of those houses overlooking the yard judging by some phots I've seen? Porcy
