  1. Some compartments were left in place and each seemed to have differing stores parts in them. I'll get some pics prepared. Dave.
  2. I have some pics of the Stores Unit 023 if you'd like some. Here's a taster. Dave.
  3. Elbow Lane will there for the weekend. I'll have my newest DCC conversion with me. Scratch built in 1983, it's a 2Hal, or Tin Hal if you prefer. Dave.
  4. Not being satisfied with just the same EMU serving Elbow Lane all the time, I have dug out another unit from storage. Completed on 28th Dec 1983, this one presented a little more difficulty in getting a hard wired 8 pin socket and a chip in the guard's van. (A Zimo MX600R from Coastal DCC has been used). This is because partitions are in place and fixed between the van area and the cab & passenger compartments. I could have hard wired the chip to the motor but I like to have a socket so if a change of decoder is needed then it's easy peasy. Thanks to Strathpether Junction for making the breakout sockets available. Excellent items. See the Tim Hal at Abrail l next week. Dave.
  5. Thanks to the Erith Club for their help. My seat is back home safe. Anyone wishing to meet said roaming chair, it will be at Abrail in March. Cheers. Dave.
  6. I always mist my ballast with water and few drops of IPA. Never put IPA in a PVA mix as it can turn 'gloopy' in my experience. Dave.
  7. I once had granite ballast turn green after the PVA application. I now use water based matt varnish 60/40 with water and a squirt of IPA. Wet (mist) the ballast first with water and IPA. Dave.
  8. Mmmmmmm! I've just looked back at some of my earlier posts and it looks as though I'm praising myself. What was is that early post were made under the name of Elbow Lane as I was hiding the fact it was me building a layout. Then the Admin combined the two authors and now the posts under the Elbow Lane author look a be silly. Sorry. Dave.
  9. He's not looking for a delay, he's looking for an early start. Dave.
  10. I didn't open it. I said I 'looked' at the link. I didn't open it and I didn't click on it. Dave.
  11. Lost Chair. Hi Guys. Has any other exhibitor ended up with an extra high stool? Mine seems to have disappeared at the end of the show. Cheers Dave.
  12. If they are C and L chairs, Butanone should work. It should soften the plastic which will then integrate with the grain of the wood. I would slip some rough Wet & Dry between the two and try to clean the underside of the chairs. Dave.
  13. As I said, that link gives no suggestion that it might take you to MRH. Dave.
  14. I looked at the link and it didn't look as though it would be anything to do with MRH. Dave.
  15. The list of the chemicals above appeared in Model Railroad Hobbyist in May 2019. Its available on line. Since reading it a couple of years ago, I've mostly used nothing else. Note: a near equivalent is White Spirit (UK). / Mineral Spirits in the US. Dave.
  16. I don't think you can. Although thinking is reverse may do it. Have the lights on function activated and in the Function mapping have them turned off if the loco is not moving but on if it is moving, then have a delay in the loco moving off. It might work. Dave.
  17. Thanks Guys. I'll pick up a couple at the Tonbridge Show. Dave.
  18. Guys. Has anyone found a decoder (not sound) that will run an old Mainline Peak type motor. I currently got a Hornby Sapphire (I think) in the loco but the control is a bit poor. Cheers Dave.
  19. 20003 will be getting it's first DCC powered run out at Tonbridge this weekend 17th Feb 24. Dave
  20. What would you do about a single operator layout Dave.
  21. I think a little modification needs to be applied to the concept. Make it £70 per room per night whether it's one or two layout staff, (always twin rooms) then the layout with a single operator would still be able to afford to stay over. A layout with two staff would cost the same. Our club often exhibits on a stay away basis and some of the hotels we've been put up in have been, quite frankly, terrible. I wonder if the organisers would stay there? One particular show we have needed accommodation for on 3 or 4 occasions has put us in a hotel some of us refuse to use again. If the cost was given as Expenses then we could go to the local Premier Inn. It's off putting when you walk into your room and find someone's old sock behind the door or the corners of the bathroom floor are dirty. Dave.
  22. We have now launched our revised and updated Website. Full details of the Club and its layouts as well as Exhibition Managers' info sheet Downloads included. Fi d us at. www.csmrc.co.uk. Dave
