The eagle has landed - well, not quite, but the seagulls have!!  I finally got round to painting them (got a bit more time now that the schools have finished for summer!!) and they're now on the layout

Two are on the station canopy, marking the location of the uncoupling magnets, with another one on a flat roof behind the station:

There's another on another flat roof near the end of the platform:

and finally, 3 on the fire station roof and one on top of the training tower:

I quite enjoyed doing that and have thought about getting a few more, but really I should be thinking about detailing the scenery generally.  Something to think about while I'm out walking!!

    More soon.

Like the addition of the seagulls which are plentiful in the location modelled. This will of course now lead to further weathering requirements as we all know what a mess the birds leave around their regular roosting spots …..maybe some passengers might get ‘lucky’ 😬

  2. “Rambling old git “ but please don’t change Andy me old mucker 😇

Have to say that the changing the period idea works well if your like you and I who have a range of periods that are of modelling interest.
Still think it will be a shame to see Trewithen being sold but it’s your railway Andy and it makes interesting to see what other ideas you hatch in the POD 🤣

  3. I think Perez is going to give MV a hard time for the rest of the season and I for one will be cheering him on. The bloke is one of the good guys in this very bitter and twisted sport in my humble opinion

    Possibly 'Ramchester Ales'.

Today I stuck the roof on and gave it a quick spray with grey undercoat to blend it all together.

While round at Rod's I spotted this little bat (probably a pipistrelle) hanging onto the back of his shed.

As on the real railway I’d keep quite about there being bats around Ramchester otherwise all work sites will have to be stopped 😬

  5. Good morning . I do like the brewery configuration it will bring a whole new prospective to the layout plus more traffic requirements.
Any thoughts as to the name of the alcoholic refreshments that will be produced in this new enterprise

  6. Andy my old mucker what a cracking couple of videos you could be up for an Oscar ……but don’t ‘slap’ the host when you win it 😂

I think it’s good the way you have shown people that building a layout isn’t always plain sailing and that a change of direction can reap new ideas. It’s certainly a new way of planning a layout to do the scenery first 🤪

Looking forward to seeing what the mad jigsaw man gets up to next week

    thanks for the entertainment 😆

Occasionally you find an unexplained part or piece of metal/plastic on the p-way, and have no idea from whence it came.

In this case, around 3 months ago I found a chromed metal pin, around 1mm diameter and 7mm long.  Convinced this was an axle for a lay shaft from some drive train, I have been waiting for one of the locos I have to grind to a halt.

However, upon receipt of a new SO, one of the corridor ends was stuck in. Once fixed, I noted that the magnets which retain the bottom of the corridor connector when not in use are kept against the carriage end by two such pins.  Checking my other Dapol coaches, I found one where the pin was missing, and another where the pin had come loose and was stuck on the connector magnet.

Both were refixed  with cyano.  Little victory!

The new SO is another great model.

Now that explains where the tiny square magnet has come from as I unpack an SK yesterday thanks

  8. Just been reading through this thread and have found it most informative thanks to the wealth of knowledge within the membership. My interest is due to an intended purchase of the J10 kit and as to  whether anyone has any experience of its build quality

Firstly, to assist the race director in the decision-making process, a Virtual Race Control Room will be created.

    It's called SIRI.

Secondly, direct radio communications during the race. According to a well-defined and non-intrusive process.

    Send an email.

As long as they don’t introduce VAR like in football we’ll be ok
