  1. Today I am installing the platform facing I built yesterday and installing the point and track for the siding. I am well reminded while sitting under the layout wiring it all up why I promise myself any new layout will NOT be track powered. :>) cheers Bob
  2. The large station building and the goods shed are now finished. Of course I have now given myself more work. I need to install the goods siding track and make the station platform facing :>) cheers Bob
  3. The goods shed is now nearly ready for me to start building the platform for it. Here is a shot of a 1:64 one I made years ago. One of few items I have left in that scale. . cheers Bob
  4. The two buildings are another step forward with all the basic cladding attached. cheers Bob
  5. While searching for the above photos I came across these. Norm and Col's 'Trainsville' at an old AMRA exhibition at the showground. Historic NSWGR modelling harking back to the 30's in Norm's case. It was running this layout during their lunch breaks at Malkara exhibition that convinced me this size was something special. cheers Bob
  6. For want of somewhere relevant to post these pics for someone. they are definitely plus 7mm scale.... being 3n42 Queensland . Taken at a garden meet in Warwick many years ago. Most detail on the carriages and buildings was done using pop sticks. cheers Bob
  7. After a fortnight with a persistent cold I have been able to get out and run trains again and continue to work on the new goods shed and station. They are just being built 'good enough' for outdoor use. However I am suffering some insanity as I decided to glue individual weatherboards on out of cardboard to the station building. :>) cheers Bob
  8. Nice work as usual Bob. Cheers Bob Comerford Oz
  9. Over the weekend I visited a layout under way. Some nice work has already been done by the owner. I was able to give him some assistance but being 6.5 hours drive away I can't visit every day :>) cheers Bob
  10. Nice day at last, started on some containers with a little help from a friend with some woodworking power tools. Now of course, this means I will have to get on with building the wagons to haul them. :>) cheers Bob
  11. coming along nicely, keep up the good work cheers Bob
  12. Doesn't happen too often these days Chris. This morning it was just a solid ice block. Snow is easy enough to run through but it was too miserable for me :>)
  13. For a second day the morning services are running late due to the conditions. The passengers are also without their waiting shed on the up line as it blew away in the wind. And meanwhile down the hill from me the Sydney/Brisbane line and the highway are cut due to bushfires. cheers Bob
  14. Hi Phil, I remember you stating on your original thread in the old RMweb site that you preferred a certain brand of wagon wheel for outdoors as it had a deeper flange than most finescale wheels. Can you remind me which type that is please . cheers Bob
  15. Good one Kim, looks like you and Ralph were having a good time. 9F looks and sounds good too. cheers Bob
  16. Woke up to a warm sunny Sunday morning. Too good to waste indoors. Spent the day doing minor repairs to the layout and removing the eyesore which was the HO track. Even managed to get some of the ballasting done. Much better ! cheers bob
  17. Great modelling as usual. cheers Bob
  18. Amazing what relics one finds when looking through the old photo album. Cheap camera, cheap film and a foggy day to boot! :>) cheers Bob
  19. Probably if any particular ACE loco is made by ETS he might be in luck Felix. I guess ACE would be able to advise. I just wonder how many extra sales toy market makers like ACE miss out on by not making their models compatible with Peco track ETS certainly widen their appeal by catering to both the 3-rail toy market track and Finescale. Said friend has been trying to convince them to make more NSWGR locos but I think ETS realise the market is small and fractured due to the real life gauge differences and as a result only NSW uses 7mm, the rest use 1/4". Not the ideal market to risk further models. The 30 class run was prepaid so not a big risk to add some extra ones to the production run. cheers Bob
  20. The driver of 4108 is rather surprised to see a mail consist passing him as he drives a very light trip working assignment back from workshops during the middle of the day. He will find out later if the mail was running very late or if it had been seconded for a daylight working. So glad I was there to catch the unusual. :>) cheers Bob
  21. Hi Felix, the ETS locos equipped with the low profile flange, 2-rail wheel option run perfectly through the Peco C124 points that are on my layout. Although I only have the one loco from them a friend has several and has been using them with C124 track for many years without issue. Said friend tells me that ETS have sold quite a few of the 30 class to the UK and France ! cheers Bob
  22. If the news hasn't reached the other side of the world yet. Geoff at Hollywood Foundry has closed his doors. I note Geoff is selling off some parts used in the manufacture of the components he sold. I guess if anyone might be interested they should contact him. http://www.hollywoodfoundry.com/default.htm cheers Bob
