  1. Thanks Chris, haven't got to open it yet. Just got back from WA a day late. I thought a 3 hour gap would be long enough but we arrived 3hours and 15mins late, The train for home left 12mins before I got to Central. :>( Nev's US layout on Friday. Exhibition Saturday and Sunday. Not much O but lots of Large scale and S scale. Ralphs on Monday. British, LMS oriented. Nev and Ralph were both fine hosts making my trip very special. cheers Bob
  2. Received a nice little present from friends whose dog I fed while they were away in the UK for a holiday. Looks nice on the garage wall up near the layout. cheers Bob
  3. This is way out of my normal interest but looking at the photos of the new GWR mogul soon to be released by ACE trains. The variant type C looks to have the sort of detail that satisfies most modellers. Given that ETS make mechs with low profile wheels that run quite OK on Peco track it looks like something that will be welcome for GWR fans. Be good to see this type of model become more the norm from ETS. regards Bob
  4. April 2016. Just look on the search function of AMRM for articles by Peter Sansom. Watch out, G1 is addictive and there are more places to run your trains than G0. :>) cheers Bob
  5. There was an article on building a pair of 19 class for a G1 layout in AMRM. His mate has a G1 layout under cover outdoors. Chris can probably tell you more as the layout is in his territory. cheers Bob
  6. Apart from the occasional live steam stuff, there are items from GME for G1 Martin. https://www.gregsmodelemporium.com.au/zencart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=13 For outdoor use I used wheels from the G scale offerings when I was building a ground level layout in the 90's. I have come across small shunting NSWGR layouts in G1 at Kurri and Springwood exhibitions some years ago. Battery /radio powered. cheers Bob
  7. Probably the last double header needed for three years. :>) The reality is that even the heavy brass 49 cannot pull the mail smoothly on the loops on its own. The mail rake is heavy and has modified Col Shepherd bogies which are a bit draggy. Now running with my BPRC 44 class at the head end. cheers Bob
  8. Sounds like an enjoyable weekend Chris. Interesting that Peter Sansom is now exhibiting S scale, look forward to seeing that sometime. Peter had gone to large scale modelling the last time I saw him. I don't get the Australian Sn Modeller magazine these days so am not up to speed on what is happening now. cheers Bob
  9. This coach was always destined to be attached to my mail train. cheers Bob
  10. How did thing go at RVR Chris? Was there much in the way of other layouts? cheers Bob
  11. I'll consider the detailing done, need to get some decals to finish. cheers Bob
  12. Hope you have a good time at Richmond Vale Chris. I might get to do some of these smaller exhibitions again next year. cheers Bob
  13. Good work so far, look forward to seeing more of his progress. cheers Bob
  14. Yes, thanks Joe. Chris enlightened me on another forum. cheers bob
  15. Yes, I think you are right Chris. Being close to other bogie designs used by the NSWGR I think the carriage will be more than adequate as it travels around my outdoor layout. Certainly made use of a set of bogie frames I wondered if had been a waste of money to buy. cheers Bob
  16. Platform looks good, keep it going. cheers Bob
  17. Getting close to the finish line. Marker lights, air hoses, door handles and some decals might see the end of it for now. cheers Bob
  18. The ACM progresses a bit more. cheers Bob
  19. Hi Clive, probably as Cliff has stated. As for the unnamed poster, the current handling limitation remains in the reversing switch which is nothing more than some sliders on pc board tracks. Adding an external reversing switch does not solve that issue. cheers Bob Comerford
  20. They had virtually nothing when I visited last year Martin. Their website is well out of date, particularly in the O scale section. cheers Bob
  21. Show me the link to the ad for them on the ModelOkits site and I will believe you Marty. Yes, they were no doubt in the box of moulds he bought from Peter but until they have castings to sell they are not available. Meanwhile back at the ranch. Here are the temporary bogies until the day the correct Dean type bogies are on offer again. I might add a couple more bits to them or maybe just leave them as they are. They loosely represent the 8' w/b 2AJ bogie. cheers Bob
  22. Currently no bogies are available for this carriage, although they were once. Until they become available again or I scratch up a set, I am modifying a set of modern ones of unknown origin from the scrap box into a general NSWGR type bogie. cheers Bob
  23. A bit more advanced, the roof is under way. cheers Bob
  24. I had a friends old Roundhouse 2-8-0 running here on Monday as well as some other old mechs used to build NSWGR locos. Amazingly they all trundled around with their trains without a hiccup. I forgot to take some piccies! I must eventually have to clean the track. :>) cheers Bob
