Hi Nev, you might well get a visit next year. The NWSL wheels are good. I replaced the ones with split gears on my Atlas F unit some years ago. Certainly improved it. Do the replacement wheels just drop in to the 3-rail Weaver locos? cheers Bob

The 59 has progressed a bit further. It is awaiting a nylon worm from the UK so I can power it up and do some test running. Once it is running to my satisfaction it will be numbered and the painting finished, coaled ,crewed etc.. cheers Bob

I will have one of each of those two variations brought around for a test run soon. However I will have to do the switch to my radio dc control for the running test. No doubt they will then get put back in their boxes to emerge who knows when! :>) cheers Bob

I recently had the opportunity to have a couple of days in Sydney while a cousin kept my mother company. I spent my time there playing on the O gauge at the AMRA clubrooms at Mortdale. My 44 I made specially to run there performed very well. No issues of incompatibility with various track power systems in use on either layout. BPRC to the rescue for the whole weekend. :>) cheers Bob

Today was a nice spring morning so for the first time in a couple of months I decided to run a train.The 18 class is the lightest, so it gets to test how dirty the track is. A slight hiccup as it left the shed and from then on it traversed the layout slowly without issue. I then took the 19 class out for a photo shoot. Now sporting the nice decals from Ted Freeman it looks a treat. Might get some brake shoes and sand pipes at a later time. Not an issue for me in the great outdoors. It does not represent any one loco, just things I like and the number is a favourite of mine :>) cheers Bob

While cleaning out the cobwebs in the cupboard I found this 59 class build hiding away. So with little on the books at the moment I started work on the valve gear, roughing it out as I go. Who knows, maybe it will run one of these days ? :>) cheers Bob

Well Martin, I look forward to reading your thread here on building your 20 class. Get the Data sheet, blow it up to 7mm and shoot off a few copies. Cut some out and paste them to the material you intend to build it from and start cutting and filing. Hi Chris, there seem to be a few ructions happening at Mortdale at the moment. Well Martin, stop talking about it and get off your butt and do something. If you can't really afford 7mm and don't have the room then change to a scale that fits your wallet and stop dreaming. Chris's advice on getting somewhere to run a train, even if it is only a plank is good advice. If the news filtering through to me that the 7mm layout at Mortdale is under threat proves to be true that will be the end of AMRA for me. Such a missed opportunity for the up and coming O gaugers in and around Sydney to have gone there and converted it to run both 2 and 3 rail and installing closed frog points so a variety of wheel profiles can be accommodated. . Thanks for the links Chris. I couldn't resist putting on a first coat of black yesterday despite much detail still to be added and the dome and stack not yet fixed as I am waiting on some others to use. A lot of the work done recently can't be seen, but the Col Shepherd buffers, tender handrails and some riveting can be seen . Finish the wiring and drill the holes for attaching the bodies to the chassis' might be next. cheers Bob

You are in the UK where there are club layouts everywhere. Perhaps make use of one of them Mike. Closest club layout running O gauge (and only 3 rail) is an 8 hour drive from me. :>) cheers Bob

Hi Mike, those part works are offered all around the world. They are even sold in my local newsagents out here in the bush. Never bought into them since getting caught with missing bits from earlier offers. Well done, you should get some enjoyment from your efforts. cheers Bob Comerford
