  1. I have ordered some warm white and yellow LED lights. Which do you think is closest to replicating the incandescent bulbs of the 1960's ? I remember most lighting of the time to be quite yellow ;  house lights, industrial  lights and most street lights had a strong yellow tinge.

  2. I would really like to see how people have joined their wooden legs to the plywood top. I am using some 19mm ply that I have on hand and I have a pile of timber that is 35X90mm for the legs. I will brace under the plywood top with the 35X70mm pine I bought today.

I already have a few ideas about legs  but I would like to see what other people have done.  The plywood top is only 50cm wide and is in three sections, each 1.2metres long. I intend using screw-in levelling feet.

Any photos would be much appreciated.

Really excellent work. I skipped past considering tinkecad for architectural modelling because I assumed it was a bit simplistic but you've managed wonders here.

Yes, I did not think Tinkercad was capable of this either. I have joined and taken the introductory lessons but I am no closer to producing work such as the above !

  4. The quality of your resin prints are superb (as is your painting and weathering techniques). I was thinking of buying a 3D filament printer because I was put off by the cost, smell and toxicity of resin.  But looking at what you have produced, I don't think PLA or ABS filament would could possibly give such excellent results, especially the brickwork. Can you tell me how much resin you use to print some of those buildings ?

  5. I called Microsoft help desk. The lady took over my computer by remote assistance and performed a number of tasks including updating driver software. Strangely, there was no record of that Windows 10 update from a few days ago so we are not sure what happened with that ?  Anyway, I will wait and see if the changes she made will make any difference.

NOTE : she pointed out that I had not cleared out my temporary files for quite a while either. This was something I used to do every week but for some reason I had completely forgotten about it : run %temp% .

  6. I think a lot depends on immunity : are you immune if you have recovered from Covid-19 and, if so, for how long ? I am a bit puzzled that nobody still has a definitive answer to this. It will have a lot of influence on how society reacts and changes.

I think we can forget about a vaccine ; I put that in the same category as waiting for Godot !

Silver linings : 1. The end of Trump

                             2. An increase in the number of people modelling railways for a hobby.

  7. It only closes the websites I am looking at (they are listed across top of the screen) : the computer stays on. I always run my laptop from mains power.

Examples of usual websites that may be open at same time : RMWEB, Ebay, ABC News, BOM weather, The Guardian, Cairns TV Guide, IMDB.

  8. My HP laptop  computer did an automatic Windows 10 update 2 days ago and now my computer keeps closing all the windows/programs every few hours. What can I do to stop this ? I have googled this and it seems to be a common problem but nobody has any good fix for it. I only have about six windows open at a time and nothing is very big or using much CPU. It was not  a big problem before as it only happened a few times per month.

NOTE : Windows 10 updates automatically ; it cannot be stopped, only postponed for a day or so. It is a very annoying feature of Windows 10 !

  9. I was hoping to build wagons but in ''kit'' form ie. build them in parts to be assembled.

So this would do the job much better ?

The Elegoo Mars does not seem to be available in Australia at the moment.

Resin would appear to be very toxic. Is it worse than acetone (used for smoothing ABS) ?

  10. I am thinking of purchasing the ANYCUBIC Mega S 3D printer. I live in Cairns, Australia. I have already downloaded the necessary software : Ultimaker Cura 4.6. Has anybody bought and used this printer/software combination ?

Note : I work in OO gauge.

Help!! I now have a brand new AS186 compressor and a Badger 250 airbrush (purchased separately) stood here. I need some sort of adapter between the two, the booklet with the AS186 says "usually our air compressor outlet is 1/8" BSP. If you want 1/4" BSP or other NPT screw thread, you may need other adapters..."

I've measured the compressor outlet and it's more than 1/4", if anything it's 5/16" or 8mm- the inside bore of the outlet may be 1/4" but I'm not sure- it certainly isn't 1/8" in any case. So where do I get the adapter and what size do I need please?

I would buy a whole set of adaptors like this set on ebay Aust. There should be something similar on ebay UK : search for ''airbrush adaptor set''.
