Thanks Jon, at least im still employed for a while even with a a final warning! ( curse my own stupidity) i should have more progress this week but hate to call it a race as all iv done is copy the easy bits from your blogs! Theres still alot of work to do with mine, the finish from the railmatch aerosoles to me are brilliant, couldnt recomend them enough, i have tried precision paints but i cant get on with them. Ill get a cote of satin humbrol spray on soon (much recomended) just leaves a nice almost care worn sheen, before i do i may take the numbers off and go tops but ill have a look in day light tommorow lunch time before i commit to it. Next job is to sort out the headcode boxes need to build them up internally and get some 'glass' in them.
Just need nameplate& builders plates and brake levers and jobs a guddun!
Really enjoying this litle project, SWD sound is well worth the expense! (must be the most expesive job iv done so far all included!)
Keep up the good work Jon, cant wait to see yours in its entirety, glad i can give you a 'boost' with mine.
Cheers
James
PS, only a couple of weeks till the east lancs '55 fest'!

NIce to see everything back on track Jon (pardon the pun!) bogies are looking exquisite, might have to revisit mine now........
Ill try get some pics of mine up at the weekend, progress is a bit slow this week what with a bit of bother at work and other assorted stuff getting in the way, i still cant get over the attention to detail you get crammed in to to every nook and cranny, i love to admire but never seem to get it right on mine!
Just waiting for my sound unit to drop through the door to go with the speaker, although its a long way off from finished a test run will be in order, cant wait.
Good to see another post so soon, Hope all goes well with painting round 2.
All the best

Nice project, always wanted to do a 'tooled up' proper western, one day maybe when iv finished pretting around with EE stuff

I was thinking doing it as an original 57, but as you say Jon, 9400 has a ring to it, and of course a race horse name will go on the side. Im just doing alot of filling on it at the mo but once boysides look ok ull be adding the 2 new windows in, ill try get an up date later on this week.

Hi Jon, all i can say is dont give up on it (her?) yet, as above i can vouch for medelstrip, excellent product but always wash off in a sink incase brass bits come unstuck, learnt to my cost when stripping a second hand 24 conversion and it all ended up down plug! Although i there is precisions own paint stripper which might work better i seem to remember it smelt alot like nail varnish remover but clouded up clear plastic so i never bothered with again. Once washed off thouroughly a 'modelstripped' model will take paint just as normal, really is good stuff
Also agree with James (above) and would definately reccomend railmatch enamels if you do decide to have another go, i use the aerosol sprays and would reccomend these to any 1, so easy to use.
I really hope its not the end for this project. Having followed the ups and downs, i and im sure alot of us on here have been really looking forward to seeing the finished article, I know how disheartening it is when you arnt happy with a project you have had such high hopes/expectations for so i sympathise completely with you, sometimes its best to walk away and come back with fresh eyes
Im sure youll get where you wanted to end up, and theres always the next project on the horizon!
Thanks for posting, if it wasnt for your blogs and messages i wouldnt have even contemplated starting one myself.
All the best

Loving the tank details Jon, iv just started hacking the tanks (and my finger!)about with mine in hope to add as much detail as i dare as yours. As for the painting, all i can really add is take your time and try stay as calm and relaxed as possiblemstakes always creep in when your rushing or stressed! I usually use railmatch aerosols for my locos, bit of a lazy way but i thnk its easier and less fuss than using an air brush and the finish can look (i think) really good with 3 to 4 light coats built up.
Anyway keep up the good work and im sure once you get into the painting its no where near as daunting as you think (and with your skill and attention to detail i reckon youll be a natural in no time)!
Thanks for sharing, keep up the inspirational work.

Cheers Jon, few final bits and bob to stick on but its comming along now, i thought id over done the weathering at one point but puting the chassis and body together it looks alright to me now, always need to take a deep breath before daubing on the muck! The shed is a cracking thing bit weighty tho, i repainted the drain pipes and doors a bit just to cutomise it a bit, planning on getting some lights sorted soon.
Have you got your sound unit in yours yet?
Thanks for looking
James
