Indeed on teh layout i build the public wont be able to get close enough to see the detail.
  2. yellow device is a clamp/lock when you hear about points being clamped and lock they are used. think the 20 is a crued reference to points number 20. you also need some orange piping between sleepers for cable runs. non rail but bus related you going to alton rally on sunday?
  3. Your welcome. I have more ideas. stop groaning.... painted markings. have noticed that an odd pandrol clip painted white with a number scribbled in paint on the sleeper recently. marking out pandrols needing checks. also noted that a track recording machine has been through and left paint marks about a yard long every 100 foot to denote an area requiring further work.
  4. Again James yes that is what should happen and as a driver i can assure doesn't always happen.
  5. the micro vest is fine if he is to be a shunter/fitter/driver. Pway lads tend to be cald head to foot in orange but not always depending where they are. the sidings a vest would be fine if they are just collecting rubbish as thats not mainline or delivering new stone/rails collecting used. Mainline head to toe day glo orange is the law.
  6. "rubbish pictures" various pictures of rubbish and other track stuff. the pile of food rubish is paralel with the driving cab at the oposite end to the buffers.
  7. james i speak as i find being a driver. PWAY leave alot of rubbish lying around. whether they should or not. just about to upload a few photos of my own to flickr which i will link to asap.
  8. lol. if i get a moment tomorrow i will take some photos. or if i have a nice guard get them to take some photos. buffer stops would require a red light. most are also painted red these days. not all but most.
  9. if it doesn't foul trains you need spare rails in the fourfoot. and rust stains where old rails have previously laid in the four foot. on top of that patches of clean ballest which has been dropped to top up odd bits.
  10. from a train drivers point of view with regards the ballest. its good but its far to neat and clean. when i start constructon i intend on doing a ballest run like the real thing. to practice and i hope to include everything on there.

Well send it back. other s have mentioned they have got ones which run at scale speeds. if its duff get it replaced. Dapol have proven to be happy to do this.
  13. have added that to my favourites seems an future investment worth making.
  14. i would suggest the fact that steam engines required a fire and that stray sparks ran away from said engines as still happens these days keept weeds etc at bay.
  15. ron the over engineered drain pipe as you put it actually looks like a hv cable run.

surely light weathering would provide splatted flies etc which would hide the glue issue?
